Recommended Posts

Just been to Lidl's and got a set of 5 metric ratchet spanners for £7.99.

They seem ok and come with a 3 year (I think) warranty.

Also got a 6 piece file and rasp set for £7.99.

Thought I would let you know.

Agh! I've just bought a set of nine ratchet spanners for £40 from from Halfords. They did come with a lifetime guarantee, though.

Aldi also have an impact wrench, set of impact sockets and sextension bar for £19.99 at the moment...

(Pneumatic that is)

Those slightly loose sockets you have to resort to when all your normal ones have fallen under the car.

Popped into my local branch this evening and bought a set of the spanners* and a set of the files. They are GR9. They also have assorted hammers for £3.99 a go. I chose a sledgehammer :)

*I intend to keep the Halfords ones I bought the other day for 'clean hands' jobs only.

Sounds like a bargain, will have to have a look. Their long life bagels are good too! :D

Their fresh baked pretzels are amazeballs too.

If your local one bakes their own bread.

Which my local one does.

My nearest Lidl is two miles away as the crow flies or a ten mile drive because some idiot put a canal in the way.

Don't use them on anything heavy duty - they don't last long. I've got a 13" left, they are cheap for a reason.

Just as well they are metric then.....Most of my Morris Cowley was grunted up in 1955 and hasn't been adjusted since.

Don't you just hate it Conrad. You've got to change an air filter on a Cedric and you've a canal running right through the engine bay thanks to local Town planning.

Where I live (Whitehaven in Cumbria) is so shit that even the Lidl* has shut, so I'll have to miss out on these spanners. The Aldi is still clinging on for dear life though, so I'll have a wander in there.

Cheers for the heads-up.

I have found a bridge on Google Maps but I think it's only for trains.

If I never post again, then it was definitely only for trains.

Those spanners sound great. Also, get over to Poundland to bag one of these bright things. Great for late night bodging...
