Diesel Volvoshite probably for sale

Last year in I think October I decided that given that I enjoyed driving my Saab so much there was no point having my W124 any more so I sold it, which naturally led to the Saab expiring within a fortnight with OMGHGF. I got the Saab safely in my lock up and with a headset at the ready pulled the cylinder head managing to snap off several critical studs and, accepting that I wasn't going to get the thing back on the road to go to work the following Monday I panic bought another Swede, a Volvo 850 TDI GLT badermatic in Liverpool.

The Volvo has been an interesting interlude, and although the patients at the secure unit where I work were keen to state it was my 'best car yet' now I have finally got the Saab put back together and nursed it through another MOT (which of course expired while the Saab was off the road) the Volvo has been relegated to the lock up, which is an undersirable state of affairs because I want the lock up back, particularly as I am currently (and most ill-advisedly) the high bidder on the shonky brown P6B on ebay.

Now, I don't yet have any photographs (which I shall endeavour to take tomorrow) however I can tell you that the Volv looks pretty respectable and is in that agreeable turquoise with the T5esque Columba alloys. I have found that I tend to get about 40 mpg commuting and over 50mpg on a gentle long run. It is MOT'd until October and Taxed until the end of April. It generally functions as intended and aside from having to fit a (new!) battery has behaved flawlessly since I bought it. As far as I can detect the only real issues what feels like a tired driveshaft, somewhat erratic central locking and annoyingly last month the mileometer stopped working. This does not affect the speed indicating part of the speedometer and is apparently caused by a (replaceable) gear in the speedo head that strips. I have had no desire to dismantle the instrument panel to rectify this.

Price? I paid £600 without tax however felt at the time £550 would have been more appropriate, but like I say it was a panic purchase. A shiters discount would of course be forthcoming however...

'Volvo, as recommended by people that you wouldn't normally trust to make a sound life choice', as Ad taglines go, that's going to be a tough sell.

Which one?

It's 1996, the car in my sig. Also it's the super desirable saloon version...

Ah no, the seller has pulled it; he's 'opened a case to cancel my purchase' which makes more sense because I was sure there were 6 more days to run! Not sure whether to kick off or not; may be a lucky escape...

D5252T (VW) engine I think. Worth loads of coin a few years ago with a manual box and bigger boot. Saloon auto makes me want it :-D

Aye, same 5 cylinder engine that was in the Audi 100 & early A6. Sounds lovely!

I managed to brave the wet and take some photographs; apologies for their poor quality.

These beasts look better and better as time goes on, still slightly miffed that my parents got rid of theirs (2.5 petrol, L reg, bright red) without offering it to me first.

About 180000 although you wouldn't think it.

Also although I have no paperwork the gentleman I bought it from told me he 'thought the timing belts had been done'. Certainly having inspected them they appear ok and at least on tensioner has clearly been replaced being still new and shiny!

I'm still seriously considering this, and my wife almost approves of it. Does anybody want to buy an LPG powered Citroen C5?

What is the issue with the tired driveshaft? Is it clicking or vibrating?

Any more details on C5? I am struggling with lack of acceleration in the Xantia

It's more vibratory really, with an unevenness you can feel through the steering wheel if you accelerate around corners. It started the week after I got it and hasn't got massively worse; I had the fail sheet from before the retest that resulted in the fresh MOT before I bought it and one of the fails was a cv gaiter which I suspected had been damaged for some time allowing the joint to suffer from exposur to the elements.
