SAEV the Red Rangey of SHAEM - Now SOALD

V8 is lovely.. but realistically, if you actually want to use it, I recommend a 200/ 300tdi conversion. This looks like a perfect candidate :)

200/300tdi readily avaliable in dissolved disco 1s as well

would definately make it useable and, you'd also be able to fund it by selling the V8

I love my Tdi but it's no V8. I good compromise though as do not ever wish to own a Discovery.

GLWTS, SunblestVan - those late 80s/early 90s 3.9s are lovely motors.

Ooooops, left the MoT fail note in the Rangey...

From memory -

Two lots of corrosion too close to load bearing areas  - could be a few days welding, said bloke, but was a bit vague.

Steering gaiter split

One other minor ish thing that I cannot recall

Battery not secure.

Other non MoT faults as well as those mentioned above-

Exhaust blowing a bit, (unless that was also a  fail, I forget)

Coolant level sensor wires have come off.

Radio or speakers intermittently go buzzzzzzzz.

Small scratches and minor skin blemishes all over.

I have a bill for a bit of work done on the rad hoses, new battery, new steering damper and whatever else they did.

Oh yes, steering column cover loose because of comedy episode involving a rape alarm that some previous owner/occupant had left under the seat, which went off one day*, leading to erroneous supposition that an after market alarm was fitted somewhere in the car.  Practically stripped car to chassis with brains melting out of ears from noise of alarm before found the thing under seat, and had to stomp on it to smash it as no way to turn off.

 * no, no raping was going on.

Truly it is now the Red Rangey of SHAEM, because I have let it go outside the Autoshite care in the community, and feel especially bad for dicking NorfolkNWeigh about on the deal.

The old 4x4 garage where the car has been gently rotting these past weeks has bought it off me so that the apprentice can practise resto skillz on it.

Now... MUST...resist... Frontera....

My 3.9 efi RRC got 18mpg on petrol and 14mpg on gas.

Having lpg doesn't make them cheap to run, just less horrendous.

That's roughly what I get. Bought mine for 250, spent 250 and bingo we have some top posh shite.
