Lifestyle ads/brochures for shite cars.

The Volvo one with the sheep is very clever. Bravo to whichever ad agency suggested it.

looks like the beginnings of a Warren T Claim "sexism" thread picture.

"OK guys, start gurning through the window and we'll bring on the lass who's going to be in the passenger seat...."

So far, I think the boating theme is in front.

Closely followed by sheep.  I'm not sure it's a good idea to leave 1970s French cars near salty water in any case.

Do We know any long-haired 2CV owners around here? If only they knew that a quick strum on a guitar while standing on the back seat with the roof back would immediately summon a trio of adoring fans.

And which coke-headed ad copywriter came up with "The Once in a Lifetime Car" slogan for the Capri?   Like, it's such a shit car, you'll never ever buy another one?

You could adapt the theme of lifestyle adverts to Autoshite... Someone with bleeding hands cutting the sills off a Ford Ka... A man looking forlorn on the M25 as he looks on as his Laguna has a catastrophic failure of the electrical system or the grimace of someone discovering the trade in value of an MG6 he now owes significantly more on.

Simca and Saab who used sheep in the above pics, the Volvo pics above use a Citroën CX taxi, families, horses, a photographic shoot and boats. But their ad agency is clever in making you associate the sheep ad with Volvos.

Slightly Autoshite?

They've gone down in the world, this was a couple of years earlier. Below must be their posh cousins in the South.

You can be stranded in all these exotic locations with a triumph snag.

Not sure I follow. I like the imagery of the sheep all following the competing cars in the distance, the implication being you don't follow the herd by choosing a Volvo.

Except it's a Saab advert, the Volvo is in the flock.

That's a textbook example of an advert failing because people don't quite register what brand is being promoted. The Joan Collins and Leonard Rossiter adverts were pulled because people couldn't remember whether they were for Cinzano or Martini.

Would it really have been too expensive to take a couple of new pictures when they changed to the plastic hubcaps? To be fair Ford used to do this retouching of wheels and number plates a lot too.

The brochure for my Rialto says "sits 4 in comfort". Now i was around in the 80s and from memory most people had legs. I take it Reliant had not noticed this.

Whoops! I have no excuse as it was in a run of Saab ads. Will pay more attention in future.
