I'm instigating a new rule, it's like the other Autoshite rules when a thread goes a certain way.  It goes like this.

 

 

For what it's worth, I hope the owner of the Oxford is reunited with his car, wherever it might have gone.  It's a horrible enough thing to happen without people on the internet making wild speculations and accusations.

If this theft was down to the banga boyz, they'll quite likely get shot as the car gets a bit hot to handle from the good work we've seen in spreading the word.

Let us not forget the pikey scum, they'll lift such cars in a heartbeat, perhaps anyone who frequents scrappy / weighbridge places could keep an eye out, sadly that's probably too late.

 

 

And before we kick off big time about racers, can we bear in mind that it's all been done before, nobody wins, and you're only going to encourage them.

Could be pikey scum or racers - I actually think it's more likely to be pikeys who know how rated these are by banger racers rather than racers themselves.

 

The pikeys then put a call in to racers " I've got an old Oxford if you're interested mate, it can't go back on the road cos it's had a cert of destruction blah blah" , racers buy car unawares, pikeys make money.

 

It's a sad state of affairs that scumbags will lift what is clearly someone's pride and joy for the sake of a couple of hundred quid. I don't think the penalties for this kind of thing are harsh enough to be a deterrent to the pond life.

 

A mate of mine had his Ford Probe stolen a couple of years ago . It was never found and clearly had been lifted just to weigh in for the metal value. As it so happened, a week earlier it had run out of oil and expired in spectacular fashion, and he was going to tow it to the scrappy that weekend. Instead he got a grand from the insurance company for it so the theft actually went in his favour and he was chuffed !

Disappeared without trace as far as I know....Trouble is those who steal such things tend to also have somewhere to keep them so it could go to ground for a good while.   My crystal ball has swirling Dulux and cage imagery....
