Right

This is one of the rare occasions where I can say the car needs absolutely nothing. It is Junkman maintained, so no bodge repairs anywhere.

The only things wrong with it are the door lock of the driver's door (but the remote fob works, so no issue at all), the missing bumper chrome strip up front and the bulb that illuminates the clock is 'temperamental', i.e. not working most of the time.

Apart from that the car is in stunning condition, as everyone on this forum, who has seen the car 'in the flesh', can attest. There is no lacquer peel whatsoever. If there is such a thing as a 405 that deserves preserving, this is it. Also, according to OMGHOWRARE there really are only a handful of the 160 ever sold ones left.

It is a 405 GTX 2.0 Injection (125 PS) Bader with MoT until Feb 2014 and tax until the last day of 2013.

It has four matching tyres less than 5k miles old and a brand new exhaust back box.

The car is clean throughout and there is not a trace of rust anywhere.

All buttons work, but in typical Peugeot fashion, the nearside rear door needs a bit of encouragement to really close, the child safety lock works though, should you need it.

I never say lightly you can drive this away wherever to, but this car is truly fantastic and we never had the slightest issue with it.

With the car comes a new cambelt, tensioner, water pump and gasket, should you believe in such hocus pocus.

And yes, there is a real reason for selling such a good car - daughter #1 goes to college, so we now suddenly have to drive a lot for the next 1.5 years and this car only returns 26 OMGMPG in short distance commuting. To buy this car only makes sense, if you either don't drive a lot, or if you do, only long distances.

PX for a similarily sized and equipped diesel estate, preferrably along the lines of a BX, preferrably with Badermatic (but this is not a must), with absolutely no leather interior (this is a must) and not been used to transport dogs (this is also a must) will be considered.

Please feel free to pop by to have a look, there is always a cuppa waiting and I'm much nicer in real life than my posts on this forum might suggest.

I'm looking for £450 and think this is fair considering the outstanding condition of the car.

Sorry C, I've still got those front and rear chrome strips I promised you for this - or for the lucky new owner!

What a belter, looks better than my saloons.  How do you keep that black plastic trim looking so black?

You can come any cry on my shoulder when you realise you never should have sold it.

Of course I shouldn't sell it. Tempted to sorn it and put it away, honest. However, this is a tad unrealistic.

Hi

What's the Pug's MPG on a long run? Been thinking of getting one of these for a while and I do 60 miles a day.

Ta.

Too many bloody capital letters and 'fugging'.

It will need about 8.5 Litres for those 60 miles, which is about 33 mpg. Mind you, those need slightly more in Winter, than in Summer.

On really long runs, like going on holidays to Austria, you can get 38 mpg and that is with the entire Junkman Clan, their household, and the hood bin of a Sunbeam Tiger on board.

It's only OMGMPG if you drive 5 miles here, 4 miles there, etc. and that's what we predominantly need a car for now. For this kind of shit, you just can't beat a dizzla.

Not sure how seriously this is meant, so I better answer it.

It has Bader, PAS, electric windows with McDonalds Drive Thru function for driver, central locking with remote, electric mirrors, original radio/cassette with code, the radio can be controlled by means of a lever behind the steering wheel, immobiliser, aircon (not filled), the best heater I ever experienced EVAH, map reading lamps and God knows what other gadgets I'm unaware of. The bottom line is it has the typically French convenience package. A nice feature is that the door cards are heated, like in a W126 S-class.

Lovely car, Junkman, shame I have absolutely no use for it. Hope it finds a caring new owner !

Amazing ! I must confess, if I was in an old Peugeot and the door card felt hot, I would have just assumed it was due to an electrical fire...

Thanks m8!

You start ignoring such stuff after a while when you own a Peugeot. Most things just go away or fix themselves.

Another nice feature is that you can check your oil level from the driver's seat.

Posted

I've the same car and it does 27/28 mpg around the towns and lanes pretty much all the time, 38 mpg is achievable on the motorway at 65 - 70mph.

Posted

Yep, that sounds about right. Mine does slightly worse around town, but that may have to do with me living in a particularly awful town to drive in.

Posted

We had a long and fruitful domestic discussion and the end result is that we are not going to sell.

Please do accept my apologies for wasting everybody's time, but we concluded that we will regret the sale later on and therefore we will keep this car.

A very sensible decision !

I'm sure your daughter would much rather have her own car, rather than be driven around in the family 405. I would therefore highly* recommend that you purchase one of those pieces of automotive excellence*. They are a paragon of safety* and their exclusive style* is certain to make all her classmates envy* her :
