renault dci. shite??

After an escapade with the vectra, followed by five weeks ownership of a Picasso when I came out of hospital which then twisted its arse. We now own a 51 plate Renault scenic dci. Anyone on here knowledgable about these lumps? Apparently the early ones like ours don't eat turbos? It's the early 105 bhp units. Never seen one with the SPEC ours has though and everything works. It's a privilege model. Full leather, digital climate control, twin electric roofs, split opening tailgate and factory fit cassette and 6 disc changer. Got 129k on it and still runs and pulls sweet as a nut. According to the computer on board its doing 43 mpg driving mainly to shops and back. Egr has been cleaned out but ideally I want it off. And my wife does give it some welly too. Does this qualify as shite?!

My only experience with these is that they put 'fault lights' on for fun. Then go into limp mode. Usually* no reason is ever found. On the one I had anyway.

Funnily enough, my Espace did that this morning.  Wouldn't go over about 57 on the flat in 5th.  Switching it off and on again appeared to sort the problem.  Might try changing the MAF sensor and see if that helps.

Mine threw up the glow plug light when we bought it what also signifies electrical fault. Wouldn't rev,no pull on hills. I romeved the egr solenoid and it was cakes in soot and crap. Ran great since it was cleaned. Mine will be blocked off at the pipe as soon as I can work out how to remove pipe and inlet mani without an engine removal! I know they where fitted to alledgedly lower rmmisions when new but when you see the crap in the inlet and know it goes back into the engine surely it can't be doing good!!

next door to me has just got rid of his, not sure what he thought of it but his dog was quite fond of eating the interior, seat belts were a favourite

My Mrs takes great delight in keeping all our cars clean. She as also found the joys of polishing the passenger seat and flooring it round bends as I can't drive it the moment so I am the mug sliding about. My dog sits in the boot and don't even attempt to climb over

Thank your lucky stars it isn't the 2.2 Espace Grenade edition.

I'm pretty sure any dci could be classed as shore? Especially a 12 year old one though!

I had a 2.2 DCi Grande Espace that ran its bearings at 65,000 miles and 4 years, not long after I'd put a 1,200 euro alternator on it in France , how I laughed.

I left my wife's plate on it when it was scrapped and out of interest checked it on dvla, some misguided hero must have rebuilt the piece of merde cos its currently taxed!

Heard a lot of bad press regarding the 2.2 dci. Not heard a lot good about the later 1.9 or the laguna but not heard anything bad about the early 105bhp one. Posted on the renault forum asking advice regards egr and inlet mani. But as of yet no reply

That bat Shit mingling Clio I cleaned earlier in the year is a 1.5dci, and it's been merrily blowing heavy black Shit out it's arse for about 8 months now, driven by a chavette.

I half-arsedly took the egr out and wiped it over with some wd40, Mr muscle oven cleaner, nail polish remover and an old rag and it made fuck all difference.

only happens under acceleration, could be the turbo though.

either way, I quite like them. I've pushed it along a very familiar back road and the mpg went up by 8 even though I was being a hooligan!

Is it the electronic solenoid on the 1.5? Mine has three bolts to remove then with some persuasion can then remove the cylinder valve from the inlet too. Mine was full of black soot. Was an arse trying to clean the manifold out though. I really need to remove it but have a feeling its an engine out job. Typical really. God i miss my reliant robin

Could still be a turbo issue. My mates passat spat black smoke out on acceleration not long before it ate its turbo seals
