Corsa speedo

I'm off for a long trip next week, so naturally something has gone wrong !

My little buzzbox 1995 Corsa 1400  speedo has failed, It does not appear to be electrics as the fuse that internet gurus say causes it is ok. A short while after I noticed the speedo had stopped the engine electronics fault light came on. This went out after the car was stopped and restarted, and may have just been a coincidence.

Any clues where to look ?

Epic perseverance skills there! 10.23 asking for advice, 12.07 gave up and booked it into a garage. Lol!

Stuno: It's too old for it to be electrical (I think) and I reckon Alf182's on the money with the gearbox connection being at fault. Hopefully it'll only cost you the price of a cable and an hours labour or something.

The bearded one tells the truth, I want it fixed asap and do not even have a screwdriver here. I can only hope for a broken cable or similar. Garage has said they will find the fault tomorrow (Fri) and repair it with any parts required on Tues, allowing me to head for remotest Yorkshire on Wed.

And yes cavette it is too old to be electronic.

Hopefully it'll be a cheap fix and you'll be about to whang round at your leisure. Anyhow, everyone* knows Corsas don't go wrong, it'll be a non-genuine part that someone else fitted that's caused it.
