Vauxhall Corsa Worth A Punt?

Recommended Posts

Got Corsa back from the garage, had a new timing chain kit fitted, and a new steering rack, tracking reset and air bag light sorted. Bill was £356, plus I paid £89 for the kit from local motor factors, so I'll have about £1000 in this by the time I've changed the bonnet. Fingers crossed for a £1500 sale, seems about on the mark.

looks a cracking motor, ive looked after mrs fordpervs mums 2005 plate 1.2 twinport corsa since she had it the thing gets serviced every 5000 miles religiously, ill be honest driving it really changed my mind about corsas

i can say loudly with honesty that all vauxhalls are not shit, the only problem ive ever had to sort which wasnt down to wear and tear on it was leaking water in the drivers side because in vauxhalls infinate wisdom they used chewing gum to seal the plate at the back of the brake servo to the bulkhead, its a cheap but pita time consuming job as you have to dismantle everything including taking the steering column out to gain access to the plate

My girlfriend's corsa had that, luckily we chopped it in for the meriva before it became too much of an arse!

Flung some temp cover onto this and got it TAXed, also fitted a new front numberplate and to be quite honest I like it. The 3 cyl engine sounds interesting it has a bit of a growl to it.

It has crossed my mind weighing off the MG and keeping the Corsa but then. No!

So still 4 sail, now with TAX :)

Going to take it for a ride to the Lake District tomorrow I think.

SOLD.

In answer to my own thread asking if was worth a punt. NO!

So thanks to those who advised against it.

I just or say broke even. It would have been worth a punt if I was capable of doing all the work myself, and it was the new steering rack that put it over budget.

So in summary, someone's got a cracking little car, and now I can pay my rent (or buy a camper). More on that later.
