My aunt has finally seen sense and bought a new car. Unsure if its any use to anyone so will advertise before it goes to the bridge Saturday. Peugeot 406 1.8 petrol. 1997 r plate in dark green. Developed its misfire again along with blue smoke now. Not had a look again to see what is what as she just had enough. It is the lx trim with steel wheels. Got two keys with it. A/c remote locking and electric windows. Had a bit of welding done on sills last year. Only got approximately 85k on clock. Been told it will fetch 130 on the bridge by Sims metal. Offers around that considered. Can be driven away at own risk. Hate seeing cars that could be bbroke going over bridge!

Sounds a little on the low side. Cartakeback.com value it at £160 collected or £180 delivered to Derby, which if I remember rightly is somewhere close to you.

Any tax or test left on it and what's the location? No good to me (unless loads of MOT and local!) but with more info someone may snaffle it up.

Has got a bit of tax and test but not alot. Cant remember exactly when they expire. Leave it with me!

Hats off to 240GL for making it more expensive

Well i have never advertised a car before and someone tried bumping price up!

I usually get about £275 export for these if it's got the right petrol engine.

But if it's the right type, the rest of the parts make the others keep going....... Like gearboxes etc......

Yep, Rhodesia.

Blimey!! Do they all get sent there in a Time machine?

Its not been called Rhodesia for 33 years!!

Who actually buys them here to export them?

It's just me being colonial. A lady in Coventry snaps them up off me, sends a recovery truck out to collect the car within a few hours and always has cash and doesn't haggle. Must be a 1.8 or a 2.0 with a silver top engine though.

To be honest, exporters are the best people to do business with.

They're bought not as taxis but by civil servants and government officials.

She also buys petrol engined BMW automatics as well, old 5 and 7 series jobbies.

I've found that with exporters, too. Once you deal with them they're great, no pissing about or trying to chip you down. The last one I used send a massive transporter from Manchester for my car.
