Peugeot 205 STDT

Nice one Triumph, sounds like it's well worth saving. They're a right laugh to drive those 205s as well, good on you for saving it.

Its also because I feel I should at least save something since I couldn't save the triumph. Rot is not my friend but mechanical problems are no real issue for me to sort

I'm not saying they don't rot, but I do believe they're actually pretty well made in the body department. A basic, four speed early 205 (in beige, ideally) is the French answer to the original Fiat 500 in my eyes.

Good move T1300 - I reckon there's definitely a bit of profit to made on that as well.

Looks a nice little car still, which with some tlc could give many more years decent service - agree entirely it would be a shame to can it;had it been a 106 I would have not been at all sad to see it binned, but well specced 205 diesels make good motoring sense

Right guys, bear in mind this car isn't mine, but its going to get broken unless it will sell for 280 notes. The owner doesn't have any cash to plow into it and neither do I. It will break for more than that easily to be fair, plus I've seen nice examples for around 6-700.

From what I can see it needs:

Headgasket

Head skim

Drivers door lock

Ignition barrell

Damage repaired on drivers front wing

Some exterior trim clips

Paintwork buffing up

It still has mot until october and tax until end of this month.

If no offers, I will start stripping it this week.

No offence chief but I can't seer that breaking for £280+. The best part of it is the engine and that needs £100+ spending on it.

Wheels 80-100

Turbo and manifold 20

Headlights 5 each

Rear lights 5 each

Doors 20 each

Tailgate 15

Suspension struts 15 each

Rear axle 20

Bonnet 15

Passenger wing 15

Bodykit 20

Interior ?? 40 complete?

Engine block 10

Alternator 10

Starter 10

Battery (its nearly new) 15

Windscreen 10

Rear screen 10

Shell 50

And that's at cheap prices. I can't find parts that cheap. That's also without all the little odds and sods.I know breaking cars takes a while but as long as the money builds up its ok for him and for me.

That's a nice piece of kit and is worth saving. Head/gasket swaps are easy enough and I'll bet that it's great little mover when running right (I had a 1.7 BX TD and it was bloody quick)

I agree, it would be a lovely little car. Like I said, we both don't have the cash to front to sort out, he doesn't have any space in his student accommodation so I offered to help him out with it.

Why don't you put it on eBay?

I had one of these, a L reg STDT and it was the bee's tits. Fabulous little car. I sold it to my mate who absolutely cherishes it. Be a real shame to see it broken up.

Posted

Purely because:

A)Ebay fees

B)Ebay timewasters, and I don't want to sit around for weeks waiting for someone to never turn up.

Bearing in mind I am selling for someone else, so I want the least amount of hassle.

Sad I know but unless someone will pay around £280 for it then it will be stripped to help other 205's

If you CBA with eBay, maybe posting it on a Pug or 205 enthusiasts' forum might get more firm interest (if you haven't already).

3 door - got rally car re-shell written all over it.

Its got a big ol' sliding sunroof though. A lot less desirable. But sadly this will probably be the destiny for it. My mate is also advertising it too

Hopefully some good news. An apparent Peugeot enthusiast is coming on sunday. Lets hope she gets sorted.

It was a happy ending. We found a buyer. The guy does motorsports and races a pug 205, but this one is getting repaired for his sons daily driver, sold for £300 which was a result, and is collected and gone. Now I need to get my freebie marina home :D
