This looks very nice.

I gather they decompose like a corpse in quicklime though. Any particular bits to prod when looking at one?

MARTY.....

You wanted an early Fez, didn't you?

I would love a nice Mk1 or Mk2.

Its nice, but really would prefer something stock rather than mucked about with and lowered - one of my pet hates is lowered cars (unless its a BX  ). One of the reasons why I have given up looking at VTR/VTS Saxophones. I dont think there is an original unmolested example in the whole of Christendom.

Yes, check the road past the sellers house or premises is clear and just motor on past. Those Kas take hateful to a whole new level. Think of them as a Zafira CDTi only more hateful and with worse (far worse) build quality.

I like the street ka things - are they just as bad?

You know, I really did like the Zafira, really. there were only two things that caused me to bin the thing in the end - (A)the attitude of Perrys towards the (B) 22 EGR/MAF/DPF breakdowns that caused it to go into limp mode (and on one occasion stop working completely) that we suffered in 18 months of ownership.

The Peza version we kept getting as a courtesy car was in fact very nice and had it been up to the job of towing the caravan we would have chopped it for one of them instead of the C8 (non FAP).

How about a Clio 172? My friend absolutley slated my love of Renault's but has changed his tune since buying one of these:

He and his wife both love it's performance and chuckability

Get one that has been looked after. Mine has been frighteningly expensive getting to a standard.

Clio's look interesting though I have to say I dont know enough about them.

Still quite like the idea of a Fiesta or Ka

Ka's are fun little roller skates to thrash around in if you get one without the older incarnation of the wheezy pushrod engine (I think it was improved around 2003) but as with Fiestas, they can rot in front of your eyes.

I have no experience of them personally, but what about a Seat Ibiza Cupra?

If you don't want to run the risk of a Clio 172 then the 1.4 16V is pretty lively. About 100bhp and they don't weigh much, enjoyed my 2000 / X one and should have kept it really. Comfy, didn't go wrong and reasonably quick.

This was the YRV we bought in 2009...

SDC11607.jpg

Awesome machine like a terrier scrabbling about on a wet kitchen floor, kept it 8 months then my wife saw the Skyline so it had to go, not bad on fuel but small tank if you want to do a long trip, suspension is perfectly set up to cope with half the horsepower, the paint quality on them is dire so watch for chips everywhere and rot around the rear arches, timing chains get noisy, gear change on steering wheel is a hoot, best bit is it looks like your Gran owns it but it can embarass much larger macinery with ease!

Would I buy another, YES

There is a pepermint green Polo 1.6 for sale on here which looks a nice honest little motor - looks worth a look

This looks like a bit of a bargain to me .... as long as the issue is as stated.

TBH, you don't need a ZetecS to have fun driving a Fiesta Mk4/4.5 (the 4.5 as in Trig's Photo).

I enjoyed the R plate 1.25 LX I had, thought it quite a lot better than a Micra K11 (1.0). Trouble now is finding a relatively rust free one, Micras are a lot more durable. Avoid the 1.3 ones with the Ka Endura engine, these were always the poverty spec ones sold to fleets or those scared of a 16v engine, the same sort of giffers who purchased Escorts after the Focus was launched.

You could also do a lot worse than a petrol Focus Mk1, might be a bit big though. Loads still about.

I have a Fiesta 1.25 16V 'Chicane' as a incogneto runabout car,and its quite a nice little motor really. Sporty styled seats with larger side bolsters, white dials, leccy windows, colour coded mirrors and bumpers etc make it a well appointed little car, which is very good on fuel, and is suprisingly spritely, and can see off many larger engined cars due to a good free revving engine, and a nice handling car overall.

The 2002>2008 Fiesta however was as dull as a wet weekend in Hemsby in comparison;not element of fun at all, just a eurobox
