Anyone for a Niva? Or a racing Trabant?

I'm having a bit of a purge.

 

Niva: 1.7 EFI model. 38k miles. Runs and drives nicely. A few minor rust bubbles here-and-there, but no holes and no previous repairs (aside from some less-than-good panel beating at the base of the driver's side front valance). Problems: wipers don't work (haven't investigated) and the starter is very sluggish (generally to the point of not working). Otherwise, I think it's MoT-ready. With a bit of tidying and fettling, it'll be an absolute marvel. Price: £500.

 

 

 

 

 

Rennpappe: The combined effort of a German Trabant pervert and myself to make a non-shite Trabi. The problem is, Trabants are supposed to be shite, and the less shite it became, the less interested I became.

 

It has lowered and stiffened suspension, a rude exhaust, Wartburg 353 front brakes and bespoke banded steelies. I think the engine's standard aside from a re-jetted carb, but it's exceptionally pokey and free-revving. It was hilarious to drive. I had it expensively resprayed in aspirational beige and got halfway through reassembly before becoming distracted. The shell's excellent, original and unadulterated - it just needed a few tiny patches on the windscreen and rear window surrounds. It now needs the engine and (nearly new replacement) gearbox refitting, the wheels painting and a bit of general putting back together. Pretty much everything's present and correct, including various new bits. I also have a pair of genuine 800RS cylinders, heads and liners for added silliness. Price: £offers. It owes me circa £3000... but I don't expect to get this back.

With the amount of people always wanting 4x4s on here that Niva should be snapped up. If I was a little more solvent right now I would have it myself for shits and giggles.
