Grandad's old Jalopy - Aeroarse UP4GRABZ

My good mate's daughter has many affectionate tales to tell of holidays in Spain featuring grandad's old jalopy, 5 grand kids in the back visto una playa. Old pops purchased 2 of these marvelous* machines from new, one on a K plate and this one on a J. The K plate fell victim to the eldest grand child who in keeping with time honored tradition wrecked the reliable and faithful family car in the space of a few months by blowing the gearbox. We did make efforts to save it though struggled to find a box so it got bridged, only it's wheels lived on to use as spares for this one.

This J plate beut has lived most of it's life in Spain though has returned each year to get tested and serviced back at the main dealer it originally came from. As a result of the sun the rust is minimal though the lacquer has suffered in places. The roof has peeled in small patches at the front which has lead to some surface rust but fear not as it's been sorted with a different colour rattle can :)

Now, I've only seen this in the dark but can tell you it's got a shade under 70K on the clock, is a 1.5 GL Triple valve, is metallic blue or green and is recently out of test though taxed well into next year. It's only done about 70 miles since the last test so it should surely* be no real drama getting another ticket, always serviced blaa blaa blaa. I've driven it around my private test facility and conclude that it's comfy and goes alright but the box is noisy, been like this for a long time as had the other one. I would guess careful use will see it last forever* Just turn the music up and forget it.

Grandad now has a mobility car so has conceded there's no need to retest the Proton, it's days in the sun are done.

He's after 250 for it and spares wheels can be had for a tenner each.

I did take some pics but they were taken on my phone in the dark (bad) which has no flash (very bad) and I've lost the lead (FFS).

Surely this would do someone proud* no?

NO WAY!

These are ace! A pre-1992 1.5 Aeroback is perfect.

I'd be asking questions about bringing this home, but I'm guessing it's at an SE postcode?

In which case, I'm out :(

I too could get enthusiastic about one of these dismal old crates. Lets see a pic of the DIY paintwork at least!

Shame we haven't got no Proton lovers on here, Imagine if there was someone out there who loved these, especially J reg ones.

I have a 1.5MPi Aerodeck and although I didn't fully appreciate the car at the time, these are rapid motors (honestly) and with a feel of 'last-ability'. My dad had one and when he got a new car, everyone in the family used it. It only died because my brother scrapped it when the exhaust middle section split.

Good detective skills Mr Boll :) that's the one. My pal (Owners son inlaw) has obviously got it on the bay whilst I've been away dropping and collecting shite out west. I thought it looked and felt pretty decent though it was dark so I didn't bother having a proper poke, sure it's worth what he's after for it though as ever it could easily be bridge fodder if it finds no love.

I guess the delivery for a fee he speaks of in the ad is me, the A frame and my transit. Personally I'd have no qualms about getting insurance and booking a test near home, could work out cheaper than delivery via 2 litre twink tranny!

I reckon I could get quite excited about one of these, I see theres someone on the bay breaking one with 12,000 miles (!) that would provide a gearbox... I cant buy it at the moment but we'll see what happens.
