I love these old adverts and love looking on Google Maps to see if they're still there & in business; sadly they're more than often than not NOT in business, as is the case here. Having scanned the road I can find no evidence that the garage was ever there! It seems that another "ubiquitous housing estate" has covered the site.

 

I often ponder over how the working day would go in one of these "bargain basement" dealerships, too. Is the demonstrator car put on the front first thing, always fully loaded & left on the forecourt to entice customers, only to find the "base model" isn't quite so good? Look at that APR rate!!! no wonder they could offer you £1,900 against your old car, regardless. That APR must make the cars much less attractive, from a financial point of view, but did the potential buyers realise this?

 

That said, I'd have LOVED to have been able to wonder around those forecourts in those days....

Fuck it, I'm building a time machine, going back to buy all them, especially the Dtype so I can punt it on to some 76 year old terry tibbs type fuck in a flat cap that wants to feel the wind in his scalp for £80k, just need a time machine, what can i use to get up to 88mph shitely?
