My hearse decided to unload all it's gearbox fluid on a trip to London. Constant refilling got me home and the local garage discovered a sheared bolt on the prop/gearbox joint had worn the back of the gearbox. So, I need to get another one. Are they the same as any other model. Mine is a 2.3 auto.Any help would be appreciated as would anyone who happens to have a gearbox lying around!!

Likely to be the same as a 240 of similar vintage. What's the engine code you have? Likely to be the B230, but I may be wrong.

Be mega-careful that the radiator is ok.I had a 760 GLE IRS that killed a couple of auto boxes before anyone worked out that the radiator had a very small pinhole leak between the main coolant bit and the transmission cooling bit. Invisible from outside and the fluid looked ok until it was too late, auto boxes don't like water goin' through them.Coolant level only seemed to drop overnight, it was going into the box so no tell tale signs until too late. Class design that.

Albert - the VIN is YV174583G2036733. Not sure if this helps at all.Pete - I hope with the broken bolt on the prop joint and the worn rear seal area of the box that there are no leaks as well
