Toyota Corolla KE20 Restoration and modernisation

Hi there, I'm posting up a few pics of the build that we are embarking on. This is a 1976 Toyota Corolla KE20 that was purchased by my brother a few years ago with the intention of it becoming a daily but carrying round his 5 year old daughter he wanted more power and basically bring the car up to the 21st Century! I know that some of you wont like what we are doing but its what my brother wants and at the end of the day he is paying my labour bill! Here is a link to the build thread and what we have done so far but mainly I am on the scrounge to try to find body panel etc for the restoration. Have a look and let me know your thoughts and if anyone has any ideas where I can find panels as I have hunted the world over and not come up with much!!

I've no problem at all with upgrading old tat [not that this will be] to cope with current road conditions. As long as it doesn't end up with "patinated" panels [i.e paint sanded off and left to rust] a roof rack full of junk, and stretched tyres on banded wheels it'll be fine

All the paint will be one colour with (hopefully!) no rusty panels. No roof rack unless he is going on holiday and a little bit of stretch but only to keep more with the look of the 1970's retro Japanese appearance and if anything he is lining himself up for a set of genuine Volk TE37V's in probably 8 by 15, end result will look something like this:

I think I remember this car being for sale, I hope the modifying goes well. Look forward to the end result.

Cheers..

Had a good look thro' the blog there. I wish I had access to a workshop like that! I'd be happily joining bits of mismatched cars together in that.

Must say, if I was going to do that myself, a 4AGE would be well at the top of the list. Perfect engine for the circumstance.

Best of luck with it.

Welcome! Nice project, that.

... if anyone has any ideas where I can find panels as I have hunted the world over and not come up with much!!

Tried Thailand?

I spend part of each year there, and as you'll see if you click my sig, I've spotted hundreds of these out and about. One from my last trip:

I know in that part of the world panels are likely to be knocked up from scratch when they're needed.

What do you need? It mostly looks very good from your pictures. I'll help if I can, and shipping is not a problem for parts.

I have tried a few people in the Philippines as my partners mum is from over there so I can hand the phone to her and prompt here with the right questions but I have not heard anything back from anyone over there which is a shame because there are some nice examples there.I have not tried Thailand though so that may well be an option! I will have a good look through when I get a little longer to have a look. many thanks for your input everyone, seems really positive!
