SambaS Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I remember the Samba GLS he was selling a few months back looking stunning. Don't know how he finds them but I think he's a winner

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 things Thanks for posting that. Bit of a storm in a teacup then? The Doctor's wall of text eBay listing has pushed the rose tint slider up to 100, but the car should be assessed on its current condition regardless of flowery backstory. As for the mileage, you'd be daft to trust a 23 year old odometer unless it has a decent paper trail to back it up.

Cavcraft Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 There's a lot of Vauxhalls in those pics. Cavette, is that your house? Sadly not, I'd be well happy with all of them too.Mash's car is fab, the Doctor sells some ace stuff and I'll repeat what I said earlier: no-one is forced to buy anything off him. I think Albert's on the money here.

Lord Sterling Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Fuxake. What a load of crap. I agree with what Peter said. Mountain out of a mole hill springs to mind. So the car wasnt 'garaged' in a heated brick-built garage but then nor was it described. It does however look to have been kept under some sort of covered area to accumulate the dust and bird-shit it had in the photo Rootes put up, my money is on some carport type covering. Had it been kept outside I'm sure it wold have been in much worse condition, especially paint-wise. Fact of the matter is, you cant always completely get 100% of its history correct. Just because he writes lovely rosey stories about them, it shouldnt be taken at face value. There maybe someone who has used the car in the passed that the last owner may have omitted/forgotton to mention, which is what seems to have happend in this case. I hope this wont damage The_Doctors reputation. You can make mistakes sometimes.

Ross_K Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 What's with the doctor love-fest? Whether he's economical with the truth, or embellishing the facts - people weren't so full of complements last November:http://www.autoshite.co.uk/phpbb3/viewt ... tart=17370 For what it's worth I'm not jealous of the guy, he's got his niche and it (seems to) work for him... Personally I'd take what he says in his eBay descriptions with a pinch of salt.

JohnDeere Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The Doctor's skill is to buy well, detail the car well, then photograph it and describe it well. Much the same as any used car dealer really, just done better. His gross profit on that not-very-exciting Sunny was about a grand - no different to the mark-up a used car lot would put on an auction buy having invested a lot less effort. I think he appeals to the "lazy shiter" - someone who wants a practical "classic" without the hassle.

RichardMoss Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I never bother to read the adverts - there is an excess of information and I just get bored with them. The cars are generally great and he gets good sale prices. Well done to him but I wonder if his listings are an example of when less might be more (less text, more appeal).

gtd2000 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 photograph it and describe it well. I think his main strength is in the quality of the photographs - the colour depth of the vehicles is exaggerated/enhanced beyond what you will really see in my opinion.

michael1703 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I was shocked to see the title thinking this was a thread about Rossi leaving Ducati to go back to Yamaha
