SOUND THE SCENE SIREN!!!

Though I am sure, sure I have seen this one before, and I'm fairly certain that the pics were European, possibly in one of the "Wothersee" things on RR.

It IS the one with Bill Murray's face stencilled on it, right?

Maybe I am just going mad.

(Though perhaps not as mad as an individual who stencills Bill Murray's Face on their car)>

I like that he's removed the badging from the grille area but in case you weren't sure put a big sticker on the windscreen instead :wink: Early Spit is nice, as is the four door '51 (I think) Mercury.

Quality pics, as ever!

Probably my favourite GM car of all time. Although the Buick Grand National and GNX come close...

Good update - I'm with Seth favourite spot-wise.

That does indeed look like Bill Murray - had assumed it was left by a seagull till your comment.

Unfortunately for those with Euro Interwebs I have more, got a feeling this is more quantity over quality but I never know what people like.

Start of a Honda Harlequin?

What goes on at "Curves"?

I think it's a 'fitness center' but could be While u Wait Liposuction

Almost completely non-scene in my book, alloys look to be off an early 1990s Audi.

Smashing pics by the way! Quite surprised at how many 1970s/1980s cars were sold in both US and UK markets, I would guess that things have changed now but stand to be corrected?

I thought you were referring to the Golf there for a minute - and the words 'tyre', 'scrubbage' and 'monumental' sprang to mind!

But now I see.....

Maxima would be last of the RWD Bluebirds to us, 1980-84. We got them with 1.6/1.8 engines, America got a longer nose and 2.4 6-pot.Still love the random barges, great to see them about still.

Lovely! How have they wangled selling the Smarts over there? I thought there was no way they could meet crash regs or something?

Quality bumper-tying-on action on that VW Rabbit.

 I like that idea, I think the reality is a busted bootlock though

You are right, defo not a 500.As for the Smarts, couldn't find any details on what they had to change (probably just add a dash sticker that says 'do not crash into Hummers') but they previously could only be imported with mods so I bet something was done. With the current gas price hysteria suspect they will sell like hot cakes but they do look a bit comical next some of the larger vehicles here.

Could be that the "new" Smart addressed whatever emission/crashworthiness concerns the US market had. What's the crack with the state inspection rules down your way, fordpoplier? Some of the stuff you've pictured looks well ropey, but still used. Am I right in thinking different states have different regulations?

I suspect this is not the first time this has come up but couldn't remember if it was this thread or another. It's state based, NY is annually and on change of ownnership. I think the inspection prices are controlled by the state (garages are annoyed when you 'only' book for a test because they make bugger all profit) and prices seem to vary by the age of vehicle! Perhaps this is why they dish out tickets so easily. It's all about the 'safety equipment' like seatbelts and brakes but they don't seem to care about bumpers. They check your lights go on and off don't don't care if your car is cross eyed. Most of the stuff I picture is in use, there aren't many old style scrap/wreckers yards around these parts.I had the NY state inspection guide bookmarkedhttp://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm

Avanti! Nice MKI and more, but love the Alfa 75 pic most, reminds me of the cop shows where they put a blue light on the roof and roar off, tyres screeching :D

GAGGHH! Really, really, REALLY want. If I got that I'd just drive around in a chintzy blazer and golf trousers all day and set up a business doing money laundering or something.
