Its 1961, and Ford have just launched a new shite model...!

Thought these might be of interest, They show the launch of The Ford Consul Classic 315 at a dealership somewhere on the south coast. (believed to be from 1961)

My dad I found them at the car boot! So I thought I'd share them here, as I'd photographed them to chuck on eBay.

Sorry about the rubbish quality they are photos of negatives rather than proper scans.

Absolutely superb!

I'd say it was Chichester going from the PX number plate.

Those must be unique photos there and it's good to see that they've been saved, but why was Sir William Lyons of Jaguar there doing a ventriloquist's act ?

I wonder if any of the assembled guests bought one?

Nice. I always find it a bit sad seeing shoeboxes full of people's old photos at car boot sales and in junk shops.

Great find. How much to buy them now?

A nice find! The gent in the middle of this picture is Arthur Haynes, who i think worked with Nicholas Parsons.820.jpg

These are very interesting pictures 8)

You're right, Nicholas Parsons was his 'straight man'. I saw a programme last year about Arthur Haynes - at the time these pictures were taken he was probably the most popular comedian in the country. He died in 1966 though, which is why he is often forgotten about.

Did anybody buy one? Bloody awful looking things really, and the 1340 engine was a real dog.

Strange that my 1340 is running strong at 50 years old then.

Must be about the only one left. They used to shatter the (hollow) cranks for fun. Not Ford's best engine.
