Artwork by Commission - Maestro 24/04

The Drawn Shite thread got me thinking about this. I'm doing my weekly updates online which includes a spot of advertising so I thought it might be worthwhile putting this out there and seeing what happens.

Due to the events at the end of 2011 I found my income severely hampered and had to find a way to get cash in quickly... then I bought a Princess because I'm a glutton for punishment. This in turn led to me offering a limited run of 50 full colour commissions at £20 each.

So, if you're interested in a unique portrait of something shitey, I'm willing and able to have a go at that for you. Here's the important info:

Slots - 39 available, 11 taken

Price - £20 flat rate (this includes postage of the original art to you if you're in the UK, slightly more if you're not).

Payment method - Paypal is preferred, but I can take other methods, just ask me if you don't have a Paypal and we'll go from there.

Contact - e-mail is best to [email protected] but you can also Telex me via the Autoshite internal system (aka, Private Messages) or leave a comment in this thread and I'll pick it up from there. E-mail is more convenient though as I can then keep all the information about your commission in one place.

How it works:

1) discuss what you want me to draw.

2) if you can't pay now, I put you on the Enquiry list and keep in touch on a weekly basis until you can.

2a) you pay the £20 in full in advance. I do not start any work until payment is received as too many times in the past people have taken advantage of this and got art for free.

3) I sketch up what you want me to draw, and e-mail said sketch to you for approval and for any alterations that might be needed. Nothing permanent is done to the picture until you're happy with what I've drawn.

4) We agree the sketch is good to go! I ink and colour it for you.

5) when completed, the original art is posted out to you and a digital copy put up online in relevant locations, like this thread.

Nice and simple really, I do most of the work so you don't have to. Right, so, what can you expect to receive? Something a little bit like the following:

(apologies for the watermarks, these are early pieces)

This one is a bit newer and more representative of my usual standard. Done for a friend who races and builds rally cars under the name of Wolf Motorsports, hence the wolf in a racing suit. This one is effectively 2 A4 images stitched together in an A3 frame and celebrates him winning First in Class in the garage's rally Metro.

This one is newer still, and included more for the standard of the work than the actual content. Underneath all that Japanese madness is a Standard Atlas van.

I also do watercolour-only pictures, but these aren't covered by the above offer. I'm putting them in here to give you a better idea of the quality of my newest work since this is the only car stuff I've done within the last 12 months.

Drawing (no pun intended) inspiration from the Quote of the Year thread and various spotted threads, this is the latest work in progress. My theory: if you've got insomnia, make use of it.

Tonight I was in a mood to draw something shitey. A browse through the above thread brought me to richardthestag's "Seats five and couldn't pull a stick out of a pig's arse" quote and a picture in a spotted thread that, I think, was from Trigger. I need to correct the quote on the sketch before I ink it, but other than that, I think this will be good to go when I'm in an inking and colouring mood. I'll also improve the impression of... I was going to say speed, but I'll go with 'motion' instead.

A taste of things to come, as it were, and a pleasant diversion from commission work. I deliberately used sketch paper so when it's finished, it should look a bit rougher than my usual work which I'm hoping will lend itself better to the overall look I'm going for. Certain things, like the quote text, will be less than perfect on purpose and I shall be picking on pretty rough looking cars for what I hope will become something of a mini-series as something of a two finger salute to the usual aspirational automotive airbrush artwork (which is fine if you like it I suppose).

I've never really seen your 'furry' art before. That wolf is really impressive :D

I've got one featuring The Volvo, which was drawn in 2010 at a certain German gathering, but another one wouldn't go amiss :)

LP, I can assure it's all done in the best POSSIBLE taste.*

The Maestro has landed, somewhat clumsily and only half on the runway. My scanner has washed this out somewhat, as it seems to like doing now and then, I really need a better scanner.

Anyway, if you're interested in the original artwork it can be yours for £20 GBP, free postage within the UK.

Citroen BX next I think... mmm, hinges made of brie.
