Insurance claim time again

Seems like I must have target rings on me, I've been driven into and knocked off so many times in the past 15 years or so.

Newest claim: last week, was rumbling along in my range rover classic dizzler at a shocking OMG 27.5 MPH when some impatient kid driving towards me decided he would try and cut into the turning on his right before I got there, it was a dark evening and he misjudged it, so my lovely minge rover is now fuct :(

Rang my insurance company the next day and was less than impressed with their manner, their lack of interest and timescale for doing anything and then was told "you arent entitled to a courtesy car if you are a motor trader" .ARSE .. didnt know that :(

His insurance rings me,says he has admitted liabilty and could they do anything to help? well, i said.... and before you know it I've got a brand new freelander as a courtesy car, now I'm waiting for an offer on my range rover.

Its a 93 classic but a 200 tdi, there arent many of them and i think there are only 4 on ebay at the moment, not sure i want to go down the p38 route either, so really i want a car to replace my own and like for like that could be as much as £3500 according to ebay, its getting close to that tine wher i get an offer, wonder what sort of pisstake price is heading my way?

Search Autotrader (online) and ebay.

Print off the results.

Present those to the insurance as a figure that would be realistic to replace like for like.

Jobbed.

As a trader I think you'll only get trade value for your RR.

But it will be the other persons insurance that pays out so why would it matter that he is a trader?

Says everything about our current insurance industry that the culpable insurance company are more interested in buttering you up to get their backhanders from hire companies and bodyshops, rather than attempt to keep the payout down to a reasonable level.

Nice average price if I take those into account

Get a courtesy car, claim gets settled quicker = cheaper in a round about way, cheaper than insurance companies writing letters at £500 a pop for a year.

I've had a number of non fault claims and when I used to say "its alright,I'll gaffer tape my bike back together while you argue the toss" the claim would take over a year, if they have to lose money hiring you a courtesy vehicle the payout is less than 6 weeks tops

Completely the opposite actually, they want to use their own hire car companies/repairers to keep their costs down.
