Cavette's Cholmondeley Castle: Cavalcrade of crap.

I haven't even got a suitable car to come in yet so will try and get the Aldi on the road just in case. If most else I can choke everyone out on the veg oil fumes.

If you get really stuck it's possible I'll need a driver to bring one of my cars to the show. I've been there for the past 6 years with the Toyota Enthusiasts Club but of recent years I've been taking an 86-year-old member in his car as his eyesight is kaputt. My stepson has usually helped by coming with me from Crewe in my red Sunchaser to collect Colin and his RA28 Celica from Frodsham and then drive over to Cholmondeley for about 10am.

Just recently he has been unable to help me and I've just driven to Frodsham and left my car there.

So the offer is I can drive over to you (Chester area I believe) then we can go to Frodsham, collect Colin and then you drive the Sunchaser in convoy with me to the show. Obviously we'll need to do the same in reverse after the show ends !

Let me know if that might interest you. Regards, Ian.

Ian, am I right in remembering that you guys were just behind us last year? I think I remember the old boy wiping down that blue TA22(?) after the rain shower. Is he deaf too? He had trouble understanding us as we paid him compliments over his pride and joy. Bless.

Nice one Ian, will let you know. I'd absolutely crap myself to drive something like that in case something hapened to it mind you.

Booked next week off to try and get the sodding Audi done (and other things besides) so aside from lol-ing at Norman Tebbit I'm hoping to have it back on the road.

That's him ! Selective hearing we call it. He doesn't seem to miss much when he's on the ball.

It's an RA28 Celica ST but has got the 18R-G Twin Cam engine out of the GT. He's had that one about 7 years but has got a virtually identical RA28 ST in the garage that's he's had from brand new. Last on the road c.2006, needs a bit of bodywork and a good engine fettle, might try and get this back on the road for him this year.

I've no problem with anyone driving the car, it doesn't get an easy life with me. I don't molycoddle my cars, they're meant for using.

Can you put me down for this as well please Billy - was a good laugh last year.

I'll be in either the Galant Sapporo or Subaru XT .... which ever is less broken at the time.

Aha!

Well as usual I'm in if theres still space, and also I've put the feelers out on the NoSkoolJustCool forum and the NSJC Faceachebook to see if any other bods wanna join us. If thats ok like, any space left mate?

1996 cut off date?

Posted

Right, just booked 15 tickets! Can get more if needed, I'll go through this thread again later and do a tally up. If there's any left over/or more want to come I'll advertise on this thread and RR and NSJK, as quite often a number from both like to come along.

Tickets this year are £3.50 I think (last year they were £3.00 from memory) so that's all I want, along with postage costs as it's easier to send them out than meet there as it gets a bit confuddling otherwise!

As said every year it's an ace show and we always have a laugh and what have you, plus usually the weather is cracking the flags. Cut off date is 15 years and we always, but always, have the best random selection of chod there. Hopefully this year we'll excel ourselves, unless I don't get the Aldi fixed and come in a Corsa just to f******g ruin it all

Thread I started on RR about the XT ... here

I may be selling it soon though, as I don't actually like driving it that much, annoying as I've always wanted one. The galant is just as rare, but I actually like driving that and I need to cut down the number of cars I have :(

Absolutely old bean. That's all 20 gone now, will quite possibly leave it there now unless anyone else wants to jump in very soon?

Benno I'll pm you when they arrive, cheers.

*TICKETS ARE HERE*

Pm's will be sent over the next few days. PLEASE let me know asap as if anyone definately can't make it it'll save me having to order more tickets. They're £3.50 each plus postage so reckon £4.00 should cover it.

Paypal or cash on the day fine, would prefer the former for now and would be grateful for the tiny bit extra (3.5% I think) they dry bum me for. If anyone's stuck Postal Orders are fine.

As said I'll pm people over the next few days, please don't pm me until I've messaged you first or I'll get swamped and lose track!

Yeah, I found that with the Tea Fund. I've kept one message from each person involved, which as you can imagine, is clogging up my inbox a bit, but I don't want to lose names. I think the inbox is limited to 50 messages. Anyone know a way to expand it?

Posted

Right oh, everyone should have had a pm by now. I'll get 'em out as soon as possible once you have replied, cheers.

*Important:

When you arrive at the castle please tell one of the stewards you're with the 'HBF' group. Last year they were pretty clueless and we got arsed about a bit, so we just set up camp where we could.

The address and postcode is:

Cholmondeley Castle

Malpas

Cheshire

SY14 8AH

Coming from Chester, Whitchurch or Wrexham area you need to turn off at Broxton Roundabout on the A41 and go up the A534 towards Nantwich. It's signposted from there, if memory srves me correctly I think you turn off about two miles from the roundabout.

From the M6 South I think J16 is best, then head past Crewe and Nantwich, then head towards Wrexham on the A534, then turn left onto the A49, right onto the A534 again and it should be signposted. From M6 north I think the A49 turn off near Warrington, follow for Whitchurch then A534 as above.

Note mobile 'phone reception is patchy at best by the way, if anyone wants my mobile number 'just in case' then pm me please, cheers.

Cash on the day'll be fine thanks Dave.

Pm's, e-mails and payments have been received from quite a few people. Sent two out yesterday and will try and get the rest out today. I'll reply to pm's as soon as I can, please bear with me as I'm a bit busy at the moment!
