I'm ashamed to say it one of the few cars where colour has had a strong bearing on buying it. The black with cream leather made me turn a blind eye to one or two rusty bits on the front arches. Still, its quite fun to motor round in, not so much the actual speed (not fast by modern standards) but more the sensation of it (from the lights, you dont need to hoof it much at all for the back to squat down and the silver star to point skyward. Anyway, it it was spotless I'd be more reluctant to use it.

We are due to visit the in laws in Germany at the end of the month and were going to take Das Boot back to the fatherland, and go on a bit of a road trip whilst in germany over to Berlin. Might end up filing a report on that. Its still got its original Blaupunkt radio cassette player, so ill have to runnage round for some 80s music to cruise to!

80s music? Stuff that, you need Wagner!

My 300SE was sublime. It was the choice of that, a 91 H plater, Silver with Blue leather... or a M plated Lexus 400 previous owner Imran Khan.... I had the Merc.... of course. Like you say, the tail hitting the floor as the badge rose was wonderful. I used to call mine "The Imperial Barge".

No. My 84 SD1 is well exceeded by a chap around the corner.

His choice of daily is a Purple 1951 Ford prefect, but sometimes his wife gets to use it instead.

In 2 years of daily use my Rover has needed huge amounts of fixing, namely a distributor cap and new front shocks. Not a bad run at all.

Brookjm- Just gotta say your Merc looks fantastic, certainly in that colour, this is one of those cars I've always kind of wanted but I had to indulge first myself in the Mk1/2 Rover 800s as thats what I really wanted. So seeing as my current smoker is pretty much in rude health it looks as if that not really gonna happen unless I kind find yet more storage and more money, which realistically aint gonna happen. Liking the 'Aunty' Rover, is it yours?

The H plate 205's on daily duties at the mo and with a bucket load of unfinished upoll in the door and flanks and a coating of filler dust is upholding the standard. My X plate Cortina was the oldest daily in the street though that's still in the lock up awaiting surgery. Our M plate Transit is one of the oldest too and looks a treat with it's current rust holding 'repairs'.

All in the fleet including a 80's Suzuki and Honda and a N reg Punto missing a fair few panels are all helping to hold down property prices in the area. In these days of high prices and lack of funds for many I like to think I'm doing my bit to help others get on the property ladder :D

Having just had a walk round to the shops, my J-reg Proton is the oldest, next oldest is a K-reg 214SLi, then absolutely bugger all until a T-reg Perodua Nippa which appears occasionally.

Mine's the oldest in my street, but my mate Suicide Ste has a '92 K Escort RS2000 in the next road.

They don't really do 'old' cars here.
