Worst car you've ever owned?

I've got a 1999 Ford Falcon AU at the moment. Talk about being built down to a price................ Engines last forever, but the rest of the car seems to fall apart around it. Gearbox is made of cheese, and the thing eats brakes.. and diffs.

Apparently one of Ford Australia's best offerings... Dear God!

Why they just didn't shift the Scorpio production down here and rebadge it I do not know!

Mine was a 1986 Seat Ibiza in kalahri Beige, I remember seeing this on its launch at the Motor show at Earls court and I was smitten with it, I was so excited by it I vowed that I would save up and buy one. However being a youf I could not afford it but my bezzy mate who was with me could, he part exed his Austin 1100 estate for the said vehicle and drove it for 2 years, I had moved 200 miles away at the time and I got a phone call from him asking if I wanted it for a really cheap price as he was getting a company car and wanted a quick sale. I drained all my savings and travelled down to get it.

WHAT A PILE OF SHITE IT WAS......You would accelerate out of a junction and just as you exited the revs would die out, Fook, I shite myself many times in that car, took it to loads of garages and all could not get the carb to work properly. Cut out at full pelt on all roads usually when a truck is hurtling towards you  No choke in winter so had to sit and rev the bollocks off it for 10 mins every morning to try and get some sort of progress out of the bastard, so much for 'system Porsche' engines and technology. Ate rear silencers and rusted around you as you drove the thing.

Seats hard as rock and killed your arse after a few miles and that single wiper is a stupid idea. Liked the rocker indicater switch but had that in my Citroen before the Seat came out.

Said friend never got in touch since the sale and dissappeared of the face of the earth with a smile on his face no doubt. Drove it for about 2 years then I Part exed it for a 1986 Carlton 2.2 GLS which was much better.

1984 Fiat Uno. Complete and utter pile of shit. A bastard to start and it never ran right.

1998 Vectra 2.0LS. They were never great new but this was a disaster. 100'000 miles and it was completely worn out.

1983 Capri 2000GL. A lovely example of a fucking awful car - slow, thirsty, noisy, dreadful handling and uncomfortable.

Renault Vel Satis 2.2 dCi.

Probably one of the worst modern diesel engines around.... they just constantly shit themselves. Bought it for £500 as a turbo failure. Bonus point was the fact that it had 30k on the clock. I didn't believe it, seller assured me it was correct, I didn't care, I wanted a Vel Satis for £500. Got a turbo from a Laguna for £150. Fitted, plus a new battery, as well as rear discs and pads for £200 (I love my mechanic). Full year MOT added. Excellent! After a few days of driving I realised that it was doing the typical 2.2 dCi thing of 25 MPG and very little power - not the turbo, something else that various Espace owners have never got to the bottom off. It then started crunching into second and third gears when cold. Then came the usual dCi smokey issues and the smell of imminent failure for probably the billionth time. Then found out it actually has about 90k on it. Put it though auction (noting the correct mileage) and it made £1200, so there wasn't a bitter ending at least.

For me its a toss up between a 1985 2.5 manual vauxhall senator or a 1991 renault 19 16 valve chamade.

The senator was a rust bucket at 8 years old you could drive it for a 15 minutes then it would lose all power,it would sit at a perfect idle all day long but would it rev? would it feck ! Swapped it for a mark 2 cortina with a 3.0 v6.

The renault developed a missfire,i first thought water was getting in the bonnet vent so i applied some mastic to the join underneath,no change.I pulled the plug leads off one by one when it was running to try and find the missfire.Got to no.1 and i could see hot water pouring in via a small coreplug that had popped out somewhere deep in the plug recess, sent it through the auction with the water drained out of it and the plugs and leads dried off!

The only car i have ever lost money on.

1982 Nissan Patrol 3.3 diesel LWB.

It could tow ANYTHING but was terrible to drive, used diesel like it was going out of fashion, was rotten and broke down constantly. Paid £1000 for it. Scrapped when the MOT ran out. NEVER AGAIN.

Plus my mates called it the "Green gay machine"

Morris Ital 1.7 estate which had rubber mats inserted under the carpets in the front footwells to hide huge rot holes. Third gear broke. It would pour smoke out from under the bonnet when turning left. In a word, it was shit.

Chrysler/Talbot Avenger. cost £40 and took me everywhere for a few months. Must have had suspension damage as it veered violently to the left and ate tyres. Bodywork was 50% expanding builders foam. Top speed was 60MPH, at 61 it would boil. Courted my wife in this car (bet her parents thought I was really cool) Headgasket went on the M6. Crushed flat as a pancake with a JCB and scrapped.

I just can't choose a worst one!

I had an '84 Uno 55, too, Reverend, and that never ran right either. Sometimes it wouldn't even hit 50mph. It went back to Fiat countless times only to be met with shaking heads and tutting. This was the one where you could adjust the points with an allen key through the side of the dizzy. The dizzy was replaced at one stage. I fitted an electronic ignition but still no good. Then a lad at work who had rebuilt Minis and would not be beaten discovered a "design fault" where the spark intermittently shorted and rigged up a Heath Robinson cure. I turned it in for a 127 GT which was much, much better. Having said that, I thought it was a great car on the rare occasions it drove. I'd even consider having (a sorted) one now.

N649 DBV Ford Fiesta Mk3

By far the most unreliable piece of shit I have ever owned and a disgrace to the Ford badge. Also the only car I ever bought on finance and from new. I wound up being stuck with this when at one point I owed more than it was worth.

The final straw came when it broke down on the way to my wifes grandfathers funeral in the pouring rain, I pushed the thing into a pub car park and left it there. Three days later the bastard thing started first time. It got driven to the dealers and chopped in on a Mk1 P reg Laguna a mere 12 months older than the Fiesta (which by this time was 5 years old). I still owed on the Fiesta about £400 at this point.

Just remembered another one: Marina 1.8 (SDL?) estate in what I think was called 'black tulip', a sort of purple colour.

What an unadulterated heap of shit that was, everything went wrong with it including losing reverse gear not long after buying it so I had to always park on the front of a row so I could get out again afterwards.

I can't remember how I got rid of it in the end but I think it succumbed to 'smashed to bits' with an axe treatment that one or two others received. Having had three Marinas in quite quick succession it was enough to put me off the hateful things for life.

Dodge 1100 ( Simca Van) It was rotten, infact there wasnt any metal for one of the engine mountings to bolt to so a rope and bit of wood was used, the wood went through the rope and you turned it, pulling the engine into line. The gearchange? Horrific, lifeless, rubbery and grim. Eventually it rotted into the gound. It was bloody quick tho and did carry a lot of weight without complaint.

MK3 Escort. You never quite knew if you was going to get where you wanted to go. Sometimes it would be spot on, other times it would randomley cut out and die, refusing to start. You would walk miles home and get a lift back with a tow rope to get it home and....the fucker would start again.

Valve stem seals were shite, I even changed them for diesel ones to no avail, it still smoked ( yes i did check the obvious things and the not so obvious) and, generally it was a pile of shit. Years after i sold it i found out that the distributors on them did cause them to conk out..........

Reading some of the horror stories on here, ive been lucky, very lucky.

But it was "black Tuplip" man possibly the best BL colour EVAR!

I'm struggling to nominate a car I despised at all really, only a Felicia that despite providing sterling service, and being grenade proof, I had no love for whatsoever.
