I am sorry, but putting these light clusters into a cheap plastic casing on a powerful sports car is just wrong.

Are you FEKING SERIOUS?!!!!.....

TVR had a long tradition of using old Ford lights, this is just one more instance. I wouldn't let it worry me.

Not just Ford. Griffith neatly used Cavalier Mk3 lenses. Maximum shite points!

They just turned them upside down so only us anoraks would spot it. Well, I think that was the theory...

I really like the Chimaera/Cerbera Fiesta-trick as well. Looks far better than the later circular lamps in the same space.

Of course, TVR started lamp-pinching quite early. Turn 'em upside down, who's to know?

Other sports cars with winning rear lamps.

The Noble M12 Mk1 Mondeo. The lamps look far better here than on the car they were designed for!

Speaking of disguises, the Jaguar XJ220 had the Rover R8 lamps?!... What the Hell?!....

Speaking of XJ220 lash-ups, look at the side light/indicator.

Its a rectangular XJ6 item in an oval hole!

Very interesting!... But excuse me, this is a "Tail-Lamp" Thread! :x

You've never noticed any other thread drift here?

Not Yet...

I always thought the Viva HC-style lights on the facelifted Chrysler Avenger were a big improvement on the Hillman 'hockey sticks' Makes it look a bigger car.

You kidding me? That is how I started this Thread, by loathing those. Love the Hockey Sticks on the Avenger mate!....

These don't look right to me...

Maybe that's because they started life on the Ami 6...

Though I really dislike those lamps on an Ami and much prefer the original set-up. I quite like the later Ami lamps on the 2CV though...

Always thought the earliest Avengers were a bit frumpy and basic-loooking - but the later Chrysler & Talbot versions had more chrome and it gave them a lot more presence. Don't get me wrong - I like the car in all its guises, but if I was going to own one, I think I'd go for a blinged-up Chrysler version. Or an Argentinian VW...

NO!

std_1969_Sunbeam_Rapier_-LF-4.jpg

Whyever not? I happen to like these.

I don't care for the Rapier, dunno... most likely cause we never had it in Iran! I Can't understand the styling, and the Tail-Lamp just doesn't work.

WHAAAAT - ? Shame on you , Shahin, it's a UK version of a Plymouth Barracuda  I had two of these, alongside my Tiger ( and that is N O T "Avenger Tiger", but " S U N B E A M" Tiger...) and they were bloody nice cars, The Alpine Mk V1 being nicer than the Rapier fastback.

I am pretty sure it was a lovechild between Rootytoot tootes , and the very studio you work in !

I am sorry to let you down mate here!... But again I am sure if they were produced alongside Paykans in Iran, I would have developed a soft spot for them, but nahhh... I can't understand it, its is miss match styling, I do like the front all the way to the B-Pillar but then after that it falls apart for me...

... and I categorically deny the "Loverchild" theory according to Mr. Roy Axe himself:

"The Arrow Rapier – or Fastback, as it came to be known – launched in October 1967 was a smart four-seat coupé based on the chassis of the Hillman Hunter Estate. It was said to bear a resemblance to the contemporary Plymouth Barracuda, a product from Chrysler who by now had a considerable stake in Rootes. However, Rapier stylist Roy Axe insisted that this was not the case. Although the Rapier used the tail lamps and rear valance from the Hunter Estate, the rest of its superstructure was unique".

... And Don't get me started on the Corvettes! I see so many of them around here that I want Puke!.. .They all look Horrid to me now!...

- - - it was the T-shirt BEHIND the 65 coupe ( and the row of tail-lites too) that I was really referring to

Of course I am, If I buy a V8 TVR I don't expect to see fiesta clusters inside a plastic jelly mould on the back.
