Contacting Reg owner

Firstly do apologise if this is in the incorrect area, but require your combined knowledge.

I missed out on buying a private registration (Yes i know)
Now the DVLA database does not show it as currently on a vehicle, so to me this says its on retention.
And after a quick enquiry, DVLA are reluctant to supply any details - or even pass mine on, so that i may trade tears for plates.

Any of you clever lot got any suggestions ?

(Reason for wanting plate so much, which i guess is pretty sad - Is my old man has a VERY similar one & it pretty much spells my name, other than that and potentially looking lovely on the Lada, then yep sad i guess)

I'd imagine data protection suggests you're stuffed. There is just no way you can get owner details from a reg, unless you've got a license to use the data like a parking firm or insurer.

 

So it went through an auction? Did it definitely sell or might it reappear?

It was for sale on the DVLA registration site (as a buy it now thing)

 

Shame they couldn't pass my details on, even with my permission.

 

Even as a parking firm / police etc, surely only DVLA are able to see the details, as i think it's on retention (hence not showing up on DVLA MOT history, or vehicle enquiry)

Did you ask if it had sold rather than just being withdrawn from sale?

They didn't specify, just insisted on Data protection act laws etc
