Partridge Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 No window sticker, but my car did come with this-
sco14 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 A Peugeot dealer logos near to me, they stopped selling new cars around 1995 because thier showroom/workshop did not meet franchise requirements. Sold used cars for a few more years. A reproduction rear window sticker. An original keyring which came with my car. An original road tax holder which is still in use in the car which I purchased 26 years ago
Lord Sterling Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 'Reg Vardy' - Alot of small cars produced in the late 90s early 00s had these dealer stickers slapped on the back window..... Reg Vardy was taken over by Pendragon a few years ago, although Reg's grandson launched the remarkably similar Peter Vardy soon after. My friend works in the stores of a former Vardy dealership, I'll ask him if he has any stickers lying around. Great stuff Richard, the one on the Micra has unpeeled slightly and broken off so is looking a little unsightly. I replaced the tax disc holder with a 'Stourbridge Nissan' one, even the Reg Vardy holder had to be scraped off.
simmo Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Found this tax disc holder, it looks pretty old, any ideas of an approx age, just out of interest
D-Dubya Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 all our 80s Austin Rovers had Hepburns of Crosby stickers and plates. cannot find any mention of them now
cms206 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 all our 80s Austin Rovers had Hepburns of Crosby stickers and plates. cannot find any mention of them now My '92 Montego LX still wears it's Hepburns of Crosby dealer plates and sticker
Lord Sterling Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Although my car orignally came from a Rover dealer in Scotland, for some reason I feel the need to stick on some 'Edwards of Stratford' Tax Disc holder/Number plates/rear screen sticker even though my car never came from there. For some unknown reason, the name 'Edwards of Stratford' pops into my head whe I see/think about my car. Wierd. I never name my cars but I feel to just call it 'Edwards of Stratford'.
vulgalour Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I'll be getting a new one of these sorted out for the HLS one day, though I have to admit to it having a certain manky charm just the way it is. The same could be said for the dealer sticker.

EGD could be any number of Rover dealers around here but the one that was along the road is the closest to where I picked it up.
Albert Ross Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 These date from approximately 1992ish, when my Sapphire was sold to it's previous owner. I have no idea of the original dealer, it's a London plate, and likely an ex-Hire car.... And finally, who remembers these? Did it ever deter anyone young from driving at night, if not, did you get stopped and questioned? brickwall 1

I street viewed up there when I had a look at the cards, the actual dealership in St. Andrews Road no longer exists, possibly demolished, but there is a Shields Land-Rover dealership in Kennishead Road, Glasgow, which has nothing to do with St. Andrews Road site. I would love to get plates, stickers and tax disc holders made up for this thing but I doubt I can do such a thing anymore.
trigger Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 This brings back some memories, from when I was born until 1990 I lived directly opposite this garage, I still remember when the Renault 21 and 25 came out and all the stickers on the windows, in 1990 we had the Burns day storm and all the yellow squares which the Renault sign was made up of blew off and ended up down the road. Sadly it's now a housing estate, like most old garages.

I'll take a photo next time I see a car from Shields as they were still going until recently until their Ford and Mazda dealerships got taken over by Vertu/Bristol Street Motors, Arnold Clark bought their Toyota sites and Lookers/Taggarts bought Land Rover, their plates and stickers have remained the same from they began trading until they sold out.
Hendry Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Btw, anyone wanting reproduction plates, stickers and tax disc holders, look up a company called DMB Graphics, they specialise in this sort of thing.
