No I think it's ok. I think for MOT the corrosion only matters if it's with a set distance (30cm I think) of mounting points for suspension, steering, brakes, seatbelts & controls (so pedals, seats etc). If you imagine a 30cm sphere around all those components most of them would overlap & it covers most of the car but the rear crossmember on them is outside all that. There probably is something about comprmising the structural integrity of the vehicle but that'll be to cover any dangerous rot that falls outside the above.

I know of an R reg Escort estate that passed with the rear crossmember rusted through & it wasn't at a "dodgy" garage.

It'd be a diferent story if it's got a towbar through, I'm not too sure what all it covers but the towbar is now part of the test.

Without towbar, might be ok. With, probably fail. Take the ball off..... Then it's a "parking sensor" mate.....

Well pleased,I have a headlight, wiper blades from dunton bootsale on sunday, sort clip out then back for free retest.

I have actually welded one for a customer who's car failed the mot, neither of us questioned it at the time, seemed a reasonable request to me
