I bought this in July with the intention of getting it MOT'd and using it for a bit, it was being hawked for its A+ engine and if it didn't sell the guy was going to weigh it in the next day.

I was actually looking for a Maxi but did not want to see this scrapped!

It failed its MOT on a few minor points plus around five hours of welding:

The MOT failure sheet reads:

001 Offside rear fog lamp not working

002 Offside headlamp not working on dipped beam

003 Offside (lens missing) side repeater incorrect colour (I have two spare side indicators with the relevant bits)

004 Offisde steering rack gaiter split (I have just had one fitted to my Renault 14 it was about £15)

005 Offfside rear wheel arch has a sharp edge caused by corrossion (needs some filler in it)

006 Nearside rear (floor, near suspension mounting) vehicle structure has excessive corrosion seriously affecting its strenght within 30cm of the body mountings

007 Front (cross member) Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion which adversley affects braking or steering

008 Nearside front (flitch to cross member) Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion which adversely affects braking or steering

To be honest my garage doesn't think it is too bad and generally the car seems solid. I have a spare drivers window for it (courtesy of Lanktim) which I haven't got round to fitting yet, some kids apparently smashed the original!! It drives well, the engine seems sweet, I think it probably could do with a service though!!

I have now been offered through faceache a free Maxi, although I am going to give the guy some money for it!Therefore I could do with the Allegro gone soon, I really don't want to put it on e-bay though, I have already had to tell two people to get on their bikes as they wanted the engine out of it!!

Strangely it has a Mark II grille. More often you would see a Mark II with a Mark III boot lid.

Yeah I was going to say that about the grille. Possibly a crossover between series 2 and 3? Quite unusual if it is. Hope it finds a good home.

There were pictures of it with a series 3 grille on the e-bay listing but they were from the previous owner to the one I got it from! Maybe he thought the series 2 grille looks better, I does look a little strange imo!!

Whats the story with the renner 14?

Imported it from Paris last year. Have started to tidy it up at the moment, it is going well and providing reliable transport at the moment (probably spoke too soon now).

The story is here!

Did the buyer you have lined up fall through then?

No, he has gone very quiet!!

I last heard from him last Wednesday. I have tried ringing him and sending him text messages and have not had a reply!! :?

It is a shame as he seemed really keen, maybe a better alternative came up or maybe he was a bit of a dreamer! :(
