good one!

Last year I bought an antique postcard for £24 and sold it for £6700, another for £135 I sold for £1500 and one I bought for £6 for £1600 - I have one I paid 50p for that I have for sale at £2000 just now. I ain't gonna sell them cheap, and why should I.

I bought two a week ago that had cost the person I bought them from £25, they sold them to me for £300 and I sold them in a day for £725 to another dealer, who will sell them for close on a grand.

Doesn't matter if it is on RR, AS, PC, or any other forum - what someone paid is immaterial, all that matters is what the person you're selling to wants to pay.

When I started reading this I was shocked you spent £24 on a postcard, but £6,700! That is amazing. I wonder how many people that read this go straight online to read up on this

If I had the Sultan of Brunai's money, I'd like to sell that six and a half grand postcard and then post it to the buyer by writing his address on it and posting it like a normal postcard.

If I had the Sultan of Brunei's money, I suspect I would be at the centre of a major Interpol manhunt!

the reason the card was worth £6700 was because it had been posted (on 11 April 1912 from Queenstown)!

So I'm guessing this one would be worth more than my house then?

that one, about £10,000 as it mentions something about the ship - I know the owner of the card - he's a few nice things and I've found him a few.

I think those 30 H&W guarantee workers on board weren't up to the job though

Some years ago I was given a Punto 60S Team 3 Door. Black, I went with the owner to buy it. I had been a 1 lady owner car, and then the girl that bought it trashed it. Bent wing, fooked steering rack, bent front subframe, kenked gearbox, needing a fucking good valet.. etc. Well I saw to the bodywork, swapped the box, replaced the front subframe and rack, changed the radiator and replaced the head gasket while I was at it... Popped on a set of genuine steel wheels in place of the bollocksed alloys... I did a fair bit of work. Got it through a test, and popped 6 months tax on it. £661 on eBay to a Lithuanian girl living in Scunthorpe. A total outlay of around £230. Word got around.....Well next time I saw the lady that gave it to me, I was surprised. She wanted a little money seeing as I had got a good price for it. I bought her a bottle of wine. She seemed unhappy. I told her that although I had spent only £230, I had put many hours into it.. She accepted the wine. Since then, she gets me to look after her currents cars. I am now waiting for her 52 plate Astra to be mine! HGF imminent with sticky valves... !! :)

My grandmother had a collection of postcards from around the turn of the last century, all glued into a big book. I remember thinking it was a waste as what you could see of the backs through the paper, the messages and old stamps, was far more interesting than the paintings of scenery on the fronts.

Funnily enough I've got a small box of postcards with messages and stamps many of which look like they've been torn from a similar book. If I knew where my grandmother's collection was now I'd probably attempt to free those too.
