warren t claim Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Are we needlessly harsh on renners, or are they really the utterly hopeless 'unfit for public use' time bomb shit heaps that I think they are? I presume them must be better than my perception of them, otherwise Renner would be bankrupt by now. I recently bought a Laguna II and I can honestly say it cost me nothing in repairs and was faultlessly reliable for myself and its previous owner. I even sold it on at a profit.
Bren Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I read in a mag a while back that such was the reputation of diesel renaults (especially lagunas'), some parts of the trade would not take them in part ex or offer them for sale, as there would certainly be a warranty claim. The mag claimed that the fault for them ingesting their own oil was down to a faulty EGR. I would imagine to have the lump rebuilt and fitted would cost at least £2K, knowing how expensive renault parts are. An ex boss of mine had a honda with a VTEC that expired - a £3.5k rebuild sorted it. All the parts had to come from the states, their reputation means that engine internals are hard to obtain in this country.
