O/T (well sort of) - SDHC card reader

My trusty computer runs XP Home Edition and has a 6 in 1 card reader. Up to now I've had no trouble in reading SD cards, but I've recently got a 4GB SDHC card and I can't get the thing to recognise it, even though I can look at the photos on the telly using an AV cable, so the card must be OK. I gather that this can be a problem, but trawling the interweb I haven't been able to find a solution, so any suggestions from Autoshiters would be much appreciated and rewarded with a virtual pint of your favourite brew :)

Note: only partly o/t as there a few choice photos of shite on it worth sharing :)

I have the same problem with mine when Im downloading photos from my DSLR, I end up having to use a usb cable which is a PITA.

is your reader sdhc Trigger??

And did the roof mop up on the Escort?

I haven't a clue Retro, it doesn't say on the outside but it reads my normal SD fine.

Yes the roof mopped up well, if you look very closely you can still see some slight white marks but unless you knew about it then you'd never see it, well worth paying £15 to do!

Thats good news then.

You both need sdhc card readers...that 'should' solve the problem.

I'm not a techie, but SDHC is slightly different from normal SD and an oldish PC/card readers can't read them.

If your PC is updated to the latest service patch from Microsoft, you may just need an adaptor - you can get small USB adaptors from Ebay for around £1 - £2. Worth a try for little outlay?

errr, have I not just said that? twice?? with a link to a usb reader?

Thanks for all the replies :) It looks as if an adaptor could do the trick, so I'll look at some of those suggestions, the rubik one looks promising.
