Sharp end of 150 quid in French tolls

oh damn. last time I did it it was about 50.

so thats 150 each way?

check the tolls - there was an article about toll inflation in the Sunday Tmes a couple of weeks back - varies route wise but the nort south ones are costly....suspct they need it to pay for the Millau Viaduct!

BTW if I phuck this up it will be the last ever motoring holiday. I love motoring holidays and I need my wife to love them too. It has to be low low stress and right.

She is a beach addict and really justs wants the shortest time from her own bed at home to the beach.

It's already phucked.

Started looking for a hotel but every single hotel from Troyes to Dijon was full, including detours to try towns off the autoroute. Even the huge Holiday Inn at Dijon was full.

Ended up sleeping (but not much) in the car at a motorway service station.

Epic fail :-(

At least she hasn't divorced me.

was I unlucky or stupid to think I'd find some rooms easily?

Ooops. Looks like it may be the right time to start finding ace things for her to do...

Try a Chambre d'hote - (B&B) usually small signposts around the edge of most towns/villages. As long as you're in by 6ish -there are plenty to choose from -even in peak season.

Cheaper & much more 'french'..
