Hi Gang,

I thought i'd get on the "new car" bandwagon by purchasing a Volvo 240 estate!

After 1 minute of faffing I still have no idea how to link pics from the sellers Flikr site (Sorry Tayne!) so heres the link,

The "tank" was bought from Bristol and I spied it on the VOC forum. It seemed a shame not to drop by and have a look on the way home from a family holiday in Cornwall. The barge was inspected and a deal was done. I have found a guy to deliver it for me dead cheap on Shiply- I did Bollox's old trick of finding a cheap bidder, then googling his username to make contact, therefore circumnavigating Shiplys piss take fees. We arranged a date via email then when I rang to confirm he told me hed just given the slot away to a mini-digger job  , so Ill have to wait for the next available slot next week, although fingers crossed there may be a cancellation of some sort and he can fit me in sooner. Not sure if the vendor will enjoy a Volvo 240 sat on their driveway for that long but fingers crossed it won't get weighed in in the meantime.

Anyway, onto the car.

Its a 1991 GL 2 litre manual with 171k on the clock. Its in good shape all round but has an electrical fault that means there's no spark. I suspect its the crank sensor but we'l see. I don't think it will be too difficult to fix, it is a Volvo, afterall. The previous owner has recently had a mega service from Volvo which included a new clutch, radiator and waterpump, its also had recent new tyres and exhaust, plus loads more. There's a small fortune in receipts in the history fine. I'm confident that when its fixed it will make a fantastic family tat-hauler! I also have a nearly new LPG kit kicking about that i'd love to fit!

I just need to get the frigging thing back from Bristol!

Anyone going that way soon with a trailer? :P

Yep! The seller was totally level headed and normal too!

I stuck the delivery job back on Shiply and managed to make contact with a fella who has booked in the job for Monday, so she should be landing in Stoke on Monday afternoon, yay!

I wish I could get The Volvo as shiny as that!
