Day insurance for modified van

I am going to look at a VW van in Wales on saturday. If I like it then I want to drive it back but struggling a little with insurance. It has got a different engine so looking on day insurance sites they wont cover it.

 

My policy is a normal one and wont cover it either as an additional vehicle. I don't really want o take a full policy until I actually buy it.

 

Any suggestions?

A lot of the insurers phone lines are open on Saturdays. Assuming that its going on the road once you've bought it could you ring round for quotes now, then start the policy over the phone when you actually buy it? If its a proper horror on the test drive then just cancel the policy within the 14 days. This is assuming that there's no poncing round with the new SORN bollocks.

Hadn't thought of it that way. It is all MOT'd and taxed it just was the insurance bit.

 

Will check to see who is going to be open on sat at about 2 ish.

Yep, Insure it then cancel the policy when you get home, My wife works in insurance and she's always telling me this!
