Since I have been purving over your spots I will trawl my own shite archives and stick some up - starting with cyprus from a few years (2005) ago.

I think its a subaru on the Vangaurd. Is the pick up a Izuzu?

DT661 is a Subaru Sambar. The little pickup looks to be a verion of a Daihatsu Compagno. Rare shite indeed!

Do tell? Leyand daihatsu

Ahh! built in South Africa, called the Leyland Daihatsu 110, well this is all I know!:The Austin Marina was launched in 1975, and like its predecessor, was built in the Blackheath plant. Using the E4 and E6 engines, and Australian tooling, the Austin Marina was an interesting car, quite dissimilar to the more humble Cowley-produced Marina. Other oddities unique to the South African market were a Mini, which comprised of an Elf/Hornet rear on standard front end (quite the opposite of the earlier Wolseley 1000) and a locally produced Daihatsu pickup truck, badged as a Leyland. The Daihatsu/Leyland model was introduced in order to supplement the range, which lacked a utility vehicle (known as a "Bakkie" in South Africa; where "Bak" = something with room at the BACK + "kie" = the diminutive form of a big truck).from these good guys! http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/

Is anybody else old enough to remember when much of the British countryside looked like that? In the 70s and early 80s it was quite common to find abandoned cars and even the odd commercial in woods and fields. In the days before we produced so much detritus we weren't quite so obsessive about disposing of it.

Well I found it by chance (I was not lost...) and bought a diposable camera from a garage!Ta for the daihatsu thing, I should of looked Esp as my midas bit is on there...

Got married in Paphos a few years back and I remember seeing a line up of cars for sale just off the Tomb of the Kings Road. Contained in the line-up was a Mk2 Escort and an FSO.I wish I could have bagged the FSO. My dad was the mechanic at an FSO dealer through the 80's and I think he would of disinherited me if I had bought a Fizzog (his name, not mine).Cyprus is indeed a haven for shite. Plenty of Commercial shite out there as well... TK heaven.
