MOT Changes for 2012

Surely, as with updates in the past, there'll be a time limit to the retrospective-ness of them. I.E, they could apply them to post-2010 vehicles (as alluded to with the braking efficiency clause), so most of us shiters needn't worry. Unless you can pick up a 10-plate Jag for peanuts in 10 years time...

Another Daily HateMail exaggeration or two:

Vehicle will be failed for hanky box on rear parcel shelf.

Vehicle will be failed for lack of Classic FM compilation album.

^I last read the VOSA in house mag, in '04 while I was waiting to take my C+E test, at Perth testing station. It felt a lot like being a duck reading the recipe for plum sauce.

Lexus lights are often shit but they're in the same boat as loads of new VWs, Fiats and some others I forget - the ones with the indicators within a circular taillamp. I find them very hard to see, yeah they're visible but they don't catch your attention at night when they come on. Form over function.

Will they fail when they hit three years old?

Aye those Golf clusters are fucking shit, I have a real problem with them, day and night.

We had a Peugeot in for test the other week with Lexus style rear lights fitted. They must have been poorly manufactured/designed as they had no reflectors in them, there was a nice chrome circle in each light where a reflector could have been placed. It kind of detracts from the rear appearance having a couple of reflectors stuck to the bumper to get over this.
