That sounds like as good news as could possibly come out of the situation.

From AR Online:

Kamkorp Autokraft, part of the Frazer-Nash group, has announced that it has acquired the assets and goodwill of Bristol Cars, the luxury car manufacturer, from its administrators. This acquisition will re-establish the connection between Bristol Cars and Frazer-Nash which dates back to Frazer-Nash’s close involvement in the foundation of Bristol Cars 65 years ago.

William Chia, the group’s Director of Operations, said: ‘Bristol Cars is a British institution and an important part of our national motoring heritage. Over the next few months we will start to reveal the details of our plans to combine Bristol Cars’ tradition and iconic marque with Frazer-Nash’s pioneering technology to showcase our cutting-edge electric and range-extended powertrains.

I am ambivalent about this merger. I'm pleased that a company with historical links to Bristol have bought the company........but are F-N the organisation they once were? The talk of 'cutting-edge electric and range-extended powertrains' worries me a bit.

At least Filton's safe - if we look at the situation that way, it has be cause for relief. Not sure LJKS would be entirely happy at the merger though - primarily from what the two will become if hybrid powertrains are at the forefront of the engineering mentality.

As long as they continue to give customers that they dont like the look of the big FO, i dont mind too much what the product is like, I will approve of it. Hybrid powertrains sounds a bit too fashionable TBH, they have yet to embrace overhead cams at Bristol and long may that remain the case.

^Course the engines were designed and built to rigorous aero-engineering standards. Doesn't mention Bavarian Motor Works anywhere...

I wouldn't have minded continuously hammering a Bristol over the Stelvio 'for research'.

"One more time, Neville?"

"Certainly, just let me adjust the needles/tyre pressures/angle of the cap..."

Any excuse for another go.

Just a guess, but isn’t Frazer Nash just a company that bought the name a few years back, just like Connaught did? The last time I looked, Frazer Nash still had chain drive GR8 4 DECAPOTATIN !!1! and it was chronically out of date even then.

The idea of making a hybrid may seem a bit modern for those manufacturers not convinced by the benefits of pneumatic tyres, but the accountant running the company can easily see the benefits – the government subsidises the development costs heavily.
