Does this look a bit 'suss'

Has any one ever driven or got experience on a ST?, Are they as good as they look?.

Yes.

I had one for about three months as a company car when it was new (about 2005). I loved it, fast, comfy, nice to drive and I'd certainly have another and would recommend one.

Do it.

I know a taxi driver who's had a couple of these, bits do fall off at fairly regular intervals. Aircon system can be a right pain, dmfs are a bit fragile, nightmare to change, timing chain tensioners are also in the habit of letting go............

The one in the ad does look a bit 'suss'.

Mine, however, is great. '04 plate, TDCi 130 LX 5 door (i.e. mingebag spec.- though it still has leccy front windows, AC, CD player, heated screen, etc., etc.), bought in January 2010 for £2000 (trade price) with 58K on the clock. I've just been schlepping round Scotland in it (650 miles or so, with four adult passengers onboard) and the seemingly accurate trip computer tells me it did 50 mpg. 6 gears mean that it's quiet and uber-economical once you're belting along above about 65mph. It's seemingly as fast in normal road conditions as my V6 Cougar and uses half the (admittedly more expensively flavoured) fuel.

The only issue I've had is a bit of a habit for going through suspension bushes (mine's at 70K now, and it now needs its third suspension bush in my ownership). I'll polybush the bastard, and that's it probably sorted. Oh, and a bulb's gone out behind the rev counter, which was easily fixed.

Buy one Mr. Pog, but not that one.

Incidentally, mine seems to have some sort of idiot magnet in the rear bumper. Three bumps from dozy pensioners (admittedly at low speed at junctions) have proved it's a tough old bus - not even a scratch.

I plan to keep it until it is truly shite and eventually dies on me - which I expect to be far further into the future than the nay-sayers and luddites, frightened off by the new-fangled technology, would have you believe. They may be right, but when it's doing that economy and only cost £2K over a year ago, I can't lose out too much, can I?

Seems to be something about Mondeos and chocolate suspension components! My Mk1 Mondeo got to the point the MoT man was ordering a pair of wishbones every time I booked it in for a test....

Mk3s are just average chod though. They're nice motors, good spec and they do handle well. I'd definately have one - especially at £2k for an '04, if you see any more Mr Formula Autos! I guess the name puts people off, but fuck it. Blend in, pay less, they're no more likely to go wrong than anything else that age/size/price.
