Quick Peugeot 205 question.

Peugeot 205 dizzler (circa 1992) question:

What is the orange-ish coloured light on the far right of the dashboard please? It's a sort of weird bottle-ish shaped light and I can't fathom out what it is. I can't see it being oil or water because there is seperate (red) warning lamps for them, it doesn't seem to be a heaterplug light and I'd imagine the car is too old for it to be an ECU light.

Whatever it is it's staying on all the time and as all the doors are shut tight I wouldn't have thought it was a door open warning.

Any ideas please? Sorry I haven't got a picture to hand.

That will be the water in the fuel filter light if 2nd from left top row of this picture.

More to the point, when did you buy it? How much for and do you have any pics?

You lads are the bomb, cheers. Is it a simple case of replacing fuel filter and lobbing some more veg oil, whoops, I mean diesel in it or is it going to be a 'mare and want bleeding for days on end?

The owner says it runs fine and he's not had a problem with it but he probably would say that wouldn't he? :D

*Haven't bought it yet Wazzly Bylode but I was planning to. It's reasonably cheap but not a major bargain at the same time.

Edit: yes, it does look like that warning light pictured thankyou.

Does it have a Bosch injection pump?

The fuel filter should have a water bleeding screw at the bottom.

^^^ What he says. Can't recall what the Lucas situation is. My BX has a screw that I should check at some point but haven't.

Ta.

I was trying to see what pump it is but it was dark and even with the aid of a torch I couldn't see a make on it and I don't know enough about them to know the visual difference between the Bosch and Lucas pumps sorry.

Easiest way to tell is... Lucas pumps have the fuel inlet on top of the pump body

on the Bosch VE the inlet is to the left as you're looking at it and below much of the pump body, you can just make out the banjo fixing in this picture.

Cheers Lenny. I *think* it's the one in the top picture and if I get a chance I'll whang by (to the seller's house) tomorrow and have another butcher's. To be honest if I could chisel him down a few quid I'd buy it anyhow just to smoke round in for a short while.

It's starting on thick fuel that kills the Lucas pump, you could still stick some highly illegal but thinner fuel in it.
