Just wondering if any of you lot know where I could get a cheap exhaust for the Mazda? Or even if there's anywhere recommended (East Mids?) that provides and fits them cheaply? I fixed it myself last year, but it defo deserves a new one before MOT, and my new job is takin all my time.....

Good lord the ole car game's expensive....

I take it kwikfit and their peers are laughable?

Can't really work out which bits I need from those diagrams, but defo would rather do it meself...

Really wouldn't bother with Kwik Fuck - though some smaller exhaust specialists are good.

fix it yourself again if you can, no point in spending loads of dollar on an exhaust for an old motor unless it REALLY needs a new one.

Whats gone on it?? The exhaust was in good shape and wasn't that old IIRC.

If you want a fast-fit place you could do a lot worse than this lot: http://www.britanniatyres.co.uk/index.html

I've only ever used the Coventry branch but there's one closer to you in Derby. I've never found anywhere cheaper for new tyres so I imagine they're competitive for exhausts too. I'd be surprised if they couldn't supply a system for your Mazda.

Hey Hirst, thanks for that link, I just had a "dig" here -

" dig about on here until you have all the ones you need: " http://stores.ebay.co.uk/GRAYS-MOTOR-FA ... 23+exhaust

and found a cheap rear box for my 1984 Charade G11. £12 ! the postage is more than the part !!!

all their stuff seems at very good prices indeed.

I've bought absolutely loads from him - if any of my cars need an exhaust part I tend to buy the whole lot from there and replace it piecemeal (no sense in replacing bits which aren't blowing yet). I've got entire systems stashed away for most of my cars, some of which I haven't touched yet.

The old 626 I'm driving now has quite a complex system, if I were to replace the entire lot it weighs up at:-

Front Pipe - £9.00

Front Silencer - £9.00

Centre Section - £9.00

Link Pipe - £5.00

Back Box - £12.00

So the total is £45, plus another £48 to have the whole lot shipped - £93 for a brand new exhaust to your door. Less complicated ones I've had the whole lot for under £50 all-in. Which makes it particularly irritating that he doesn't do one for the Laurel, as I pretty much need an entire exhaust system making for it and it will probably set me back about £300. More than all my other ones combined, what a swizz.
