Having to twist the stalk for wipers (with no mist function) on the Merc W123

 

Now this I never understood. I've had a few Mercs and never had a problem with the mist function that IS there. Just push the end of the stalk in, as if to operate the washers and let go before the washers fire up. Works a treat. I'm pretty sure Merc washers are set up to take about half a second before they spray and a quick tap of the stalk is less than that.

 

It always worked on my 190E, W123, W124 and W126 - and on every other Merc I've ever driven, for that matter. Yet every road test of a Merc, EVAH, goes on about a lack of flick wipe. Ok, it's a 'tap wipe' but it does the exact same job.
