Here's my wife's new Fabia SE Estate :)

We got the bus to the dealership just as the snow began hammering down! We looked like snowmen when we got there... The journey back was a bit heart in mouth but we made our way carefully and got back safely. I got stuck trying to reverse it onto the drive after these photos were taken. After a bit of digging out and with my wife pushing, it made it! We both think it looks great, and I wish we could take it for a spin and see what it can do (we didn't take a test drive), but we can't - thought it's best to stay put today!

This is our first foray into Skoda ownership, but my father-in-law owned three Estelles many years ago (all together for a time!) - a blue one, a black one and a white one. Much to Lucy's embarrassment at the time...

Regards,

Mark.

Mate at work has a VR6 that he is very impressed with.

Took it to the dealer last Saturday as the rear washer was kaputt - a joint containing the one way valve had separated and was leaking.

While there they showed him a letter inviting owners of the VR6 to test drive the new, uprated version. Naturally he took them up on the offer while they fixed his car.

He said that on paper there wasn't much difference in the power - an extra 14bhp IIRC but on the road it was frightening.

Yeah was looking at the VRS, it's got the 1.4 petrol engine.... with 180bhp

And then a seven speed DSG gearbox. For those who have never been in a DSG equipped car, it's amazing. My friends took me out in a DSG Golf Mk5 and your ears are telling you that you're in an F1 car.... wonderful sounding changes.

Nice Fabia Combi, what engine? Myself and the other half have owned 5 Skodas between us now great cars.

DSG box nice idea but too many issues and 40K mile oil changes that can only be done with a diagnostic computer not for me ta.

Not uncommon unfortunately. My Octavia cd changer has never been the same since I discovered it sitting in an inch of screenwash!

The connectors for the rear was wipe were soaked too sending the wipers off into a crazy random world of their own

Good choice for a new car BTW. If I were in the market for a brand new car - which I'm NOT - I would be considering a Yeti :)

It's the 1.2 TSI 105 hp engine with the 7 spd DSG gearbox. We didn't get much of a taste of what it's like on the snowy journey (crawl) back from the showroom... Not the best situation when you're a) picking up a new car, and B) you've never driven a DSG before. Can't wait to take it on the open road (nor can Lucy - she's not driven it yet!!), so this snow better not last long. I'm due to be driving us down to S. Wales in it on Thursday! :?

There's a lot to like in the current Skoda range: I also like the look of the Yeti and Roomster, and we both like the Octavia - and would have had one but there weren't any available. Fabia also won us over, and we chose to gamble on one becoming available instead of going for a Kia C'eed. 2/h Octavias and Fabias also look very tempting - even the oldest have aged well IMHO. In looks anyway. I've joined Briskoda naturally :)

Cheers,

Mark.

Have heard the 1.2 TSI is quite a nice engine, Skoda only do 1.2 and 1.6 sizes now. Quite like the current range too, especially the new Superb estate, I'd have another Fabia but not with DSG though.
