Because dickhead here has somehow managed to engage the 'lock' function on his car phone, and needs a code to take the lock off.

It still rings when you call it, but I can't answer because the bloody keypad has locked.

It's a Motorola International 2200 GSM jobbie.

Help would be much appreciated because it's pissed me right off and I don't have a clue how to sort it.

No, I know sod all about phones only that since I first got a mobile in 1998 I've always had Motorolas so when I lost mine a couple of months ago, I duly tootled off to the O2 shop to replace it only to be told that Motorola didn't make phones anymore. So I had to have a Nokia. I needed counselling to help me get over it....and I'm sure he was lying anyway and they just didn't have any in stock.

Try some generic ones: 0000, 1234, 5555, stuff like that. There may be a Motorola-specific master code like 6 zeros (works for some later models) or it might be a date of birth or something like that. Sorry I can't be of much more help.

Tried most of those. Unfortunately they don't work. Seems to be a 1,2,3 or 4 digit code. Won't take more than four.

Probably not much help but the default code on my dad's ancient Motorolla mobile was 0000.

Tried that, and 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555, 6666, 7777, 8888, 9999, 0000, 1234, 9876...

What network is it on? Try the SIM in another handset, see if it's the SIM that's locked (or vice-versa if it's a credit-card sized SIM). If the SIM is locked, then the network should be able to provide you with a code, or a PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) to re-set the code.

Other than that, it'll just be the brute force method of typing from 0-9999 I'm afraid.

It rings if you call it, so it won't be a blocked SIM :(

Looks like it's 0-9999. Dammit. That'll take another trip to Czech...
