Stereo Code Query - help needed

Folks

My friend recently took her car in for a service (54 plate Ford Fiesta Flame), the battery was removed, & as she doesnt have the stereo code she can np longer use the stereo. It wasn't a Ford dealer, just a backstreet garage.

Is there anything she can do to rectify things???

Thanks!

Take it to any decent car audio retailer, and they will be able to decode it and supply the new code for about 20 quid. I had this problem with one of my cars when I bought it (2nd hand) and no code was supplied.

Pull the stereo out of the dash (2 prong tools or 4 nails), there should be a serial number (Mxxxxxx) Download a "ford radio code decoder" (see google for details) plug in the serial number. Input the code it gives you into the radio, problem solved.

OR, most autoelectrics places will do that for you for a tenner.

I've got the decoder. Gimme the M number and I'll give you the code.

When this happened to me (51 Fiesta) I took it to my local Ford dealer and reset everything for £10. Seemed reasonable to me!

Just post the serial number on here and somebody with the decoder will tell you the code. I ALWAYS write the code on the unit once I find out what it is.

Don't get it recoded, that buggers it up for any subsequent owners.

I phoned up the local Volvo dealer and asked for a code for the wireless in the 740.

They needed the last 6 digits of the chassis number and the registration number and gave me the code over the phone for nothing.
