Scrap prices

How is the market for scrap metal at the moment? I know at one point in the last year or so it was up at £200 per ton or thereabouts but then it dropped right down again so you weren't getting anything like that for your old metal.....is it still low or has it recovered? :?:

I think it's recovered a bit, I received £150 for my Cavalier from a scrap dealer in Fife recently - more than 120 miles away.

I'd say it's gone up slightly recently - the yards around here are offering £170-£180 for any car collected.

Would that be henry Greys perchance? I beleive he is one of the fairer dealers when it comes to price

It was, it's run by Willie Gray now. I've always found Willie reasonable to deal with and the Daily Record HATE him so he's all right by me.

I meant to say that included collection, I didn't have to drive it there.

Come on now, Reg, get that R14 and Strada over the bridge stat, that will give you enough deposit* for a new golf 1,4, and as every fule know that car will turn you into an unstoppable fanny-magnet.

Don't worry I haven't lost my head, I was thinking in regards to the Alfa I've got sat down the side of the house gathering moss & spiders! I might as well cash in on it in some way as I reckon it's the only return I'll get on it now.... :?

Its a 146ti isn't it?

If so, probably worth trying alfa145.com as there might be someone who could use it as a donor car? Be a shame if it just got fragged as even a dead one should yield a lot of bits...
