Turbo Woes

Just a quick question, I've changed my intercooler hose on my Bora TDi yesterday as the last one keep blowing out of where it joins the EGR valve, Inside the old pipe and inside the egr vale as well as over the rear of the engine bay where the pipe was blowing is lots of thick, black oil, Would this be a sign of epic turbo failure imminent?.

The turbo is quite loud and wooshy (if thats a word) which my old Passat wasn't and I'm not sure if they are meant to sound like that, Does this sound like a good time to quickly sell the car?, It seems to pull well enough but it is quite juicily but that might have been down to the leaking hose.

I've just got back from the local diesel specialists, They recoken it's not a problem on higher mileage cars and it's quite common, The turbo noise on the other hand is a issue and could be a spilt pipe somewhere and i need to spray brake cleaner around the manifold to see if the engine revs change at all. It's never anything easy is it.

You want a nice, reliable Opel Kadett, you do :D

 You don't get hassles like that with a Kadett!, Although i drove it yesterday for the first time since the meet and the steering box has now gone notchy and ratchety?, Hopefully it just needs a oil top up...

Thanks Station, It was very wet when i last used it and it's been sat unused since so i wondered if it was just a case of something rusted up, It does have a slight box leak so i supect it's low on oil.

What oil would it use?, EP90? I do have a Haynes book so i can find out.

It'll probably be EP80 or summat, yeah.
