Cheap Safrane

Been offered this at £395 delivered,but zero feedback,and selling on so quick worries me...

Thinking about it for my Dad,got a V6 myself but thats mine!!

Hmmm. Seems cheap but when you start looking at all the electrical gizmo's and the faults stated already I reckon it will begin to cost you. Plus, its a fairly modern Renault so expect trouble in my experience.

My mate's dad had a Safrane auto he bought new. It had thousands of pounds worth of work done under warranty, including two replacement gearboxes I believe.

The electric seat (drivers) doesn't work, so I wouldn't buy it without having seen it, and check that I can drive it OK with the seat stuck as it is.

 

It's probably OK for £400 but I'd get a nicer Laguna 1 instead for that sort of money.

 

Its also an auto, which is a 'wear and tear' item on a big Renault.

Its £395. Theres bound to be stuff wrong with it. But it looks alright, got MOT til next May and most stuff is working. I'd say thats not bad for the money.

If you can live with the fact that some stuff doesn't work and just want cheap, comfortable wheels then it looks about right to me. It's not the sort of thing you'd want to mint up and get all the faults sorted and keep forever anyway.

Whilst Renault autos are or can be shite, as this one is a volvo engined one would it not have a volvo auto box too?

The electric seat djustment on my Alfa 164 was borked when I bought it. The solution was very technical and involved several taps with a crowbar to the motor units. Knowing that Italian and French electrics share a lot in common, might be worth a go!

 

Cheap cars with loads of electrics can be a world of pain though.

Well i,ve decided to give the £395 Safrane a miss,to much i think needs doing and i,am not happy with the quick sale etc

Sooo if anyone knows of a really nice 2.5 Safrane executive for sale OR a V6 R reg to x reg laguna in nice condition,please let me know,i,ve seen all the E-bay ones...

Theres been several cheap Safranes on E-bay recently and i think theres still a few on there now,mostly 2.0 though

i STILL need a phase 1 V6 as a second car,i,am looking myself,everyday,but they all seem to have dissapeared so keep your eyes open for a V6 for sale,i,ve tried Autotrader,loot,e-bay etc,no luck.

If i had a phase 2 it would have to be a 2.5 i think to pull the body weight,nice old buses ,shame more of us on here don,t own them.
