Losing my long-term storage at the end of November which will be a pain in the bollocks. Amongst the tat I need to shift is my beloved autobahn storming Fiesta Popemobile...

It's been lying a while, and having had a cursory prod about under the bonnet had a go at getting it running again. I failed, miserably. As I am mechanically a bit of a spaz and therefore have no idea what I should be looking for, does anyone have any ideas? My immediate thought is glowplugs and injectors, neither of which I've done yet. It turns healthily enough, plenty fuel in it, and it does try to start but normally does about a dozen rotations then goes back to turning over.

It's the performance 1.8D-55 variant. Most of my friends have suggested weighing it in, but I really rather like how pissblindingly awful it is and how good it is on fuel, and I would like to get it running again...

Glowplugs for sure. Usually an engine will keep starting when one plug goes down but when a second one goes you're looking at 1970s Ford-style 20 minute cranking to start.

My father in law has one of those without the popemobile windows. It really is pissblindingly awful but he seems to like it.
